However, those with sailors staying in GL for A School can bring a good supply of civilian clothes to move over to the base during Liberty weekend.  Would save on shipping costs later!  They can move personal items to that base after Liberty,  once they move to A School base shortly after PIR concludes.

Posting this again for those who missed it and have questions about bringing civilian clothes up to PIR weekend for their sailors:

MommyLinda:  Not a good idea.  Your sailor has to keep up with a large seabag, garment bag (uniforms) and backpack.  An extra suitcase will be hard to add to that.  Better to bring a few "civies" and give them to your sailor at the airport to tuck into his backpack or seabag (all are packed pretty tight so don't bring many).  They cannot wear civies until they phase up anyway....takes a 2-3 weeks....you can ship more to your sailor then.

Yes, Lilo, you can hand off the cell to your sailor at the airport...or....if staying in GL for A School, once they have moved over to that base shortly after PIR....they can return to that base with their personal belongings, including phones.

I got my first letter!! Actually it was three letters (numbered!) in the same envelope. He had started writing while still in P-days. I cried and laughed and cried some more! He sounds good. He got his wisdom teeth pulled, failed the swim test (but he said they are teaching him to swim and he almost has it!) He said the first week was the roughest and they were kept awake for the first 48 hours, but it is getting easier. He has made friends and they help each other through through it. He loves his uniforms and can't wait to see us at graduation. He also said he missed me way more than he ever thought he would & he missed our long talks. He thanked me for always believing in him & supporting him and he told me he loved me several times! My heart is over flowing! Soooo happy!!!

Mindyeus-I am so right there with you! It's been 17 full days and my heart aches to hear from him, to know how he's doing, what he is thinking...hopefully we will get a call or letter soon!!

I'm having a weepy mommy day...I miss our SR so much!!! I know there is a reason why they can't call...its just so hard because we used to talk everyday prior to him leaving for BC.
