This is hilarious...Hubby and I especially like it because of the Border Collie and Sheep since we have Border Collies :-)

MARLINESPIKE

Your Recruits have MARLINESPIKE during Training Week 3 and may write home about it like socalmom21's SR did :-)

Amber,

Sorry, I missed it was your toddler son's social security card you didn't want to forget.....I was in Mom mode and forget not everyone has only a "child" in BC~~  Hubbies, wives, and all sorts of other relations are there too!

Yay! Received 2 letters (dated 12/9 & 12/14) from our son - div 051. He is doing great and sounds excited to continue progressing towards PIR. The division anticipated a busy week and were not able to call home to allow them to remain focused. They were going to wake up each day at 4am and possibly be awake until 10pm. Also, they completed the event - Marline Spike, our son said it was cool! Another thing they practiced was turning over weapons to each other and today is their marching inspection. Upcoming inspections are folding, making beds, how uniforms are worn and shaved faces. Next Wednesday is live fire at the shooting range, with a chance to earn a ribbon for sharpshooter or expert. Shipmates are learning to stay organized and it's all coming together. Let's keep encouraging our recruits - PIR is within reach! Hope this info helps us all feel more in touch with our SRs. :)

maryjo: I just now read your comment and question (busy work week). Our son turned 21 in Bootcamp. In high school he too wanted to enlist and decided he wasn't ready. After HS graduation he worked part time and attended community college. Last January, he took a break from school and began full time job working the graveyard shift. He income was nice but thankfully he quickly decided he needed to pursue other options for the goals he has. This summer he enlisted and and we've been on what seems like fast track ever since. We are so proud of his commitment.

Oh, gotcha FTLW...thanks!

maryjo - No, they should know it by heart by now. :-) It's on their CaC...I just remember it being an integral part of the military for ID purposes.

I think Amber was speaking about their little one, hubby is at BC?

Do they need their social security cards for A school?  Is that something we are supposed to bring with us?  I was thinking my son had his, but I don't remember now.

Amber,

Put his social security card in your wallet right now (which I assume you will be bringing with you with your money).  Also, have a list of important stuff to give to him like his cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, a/c adapter, own comfy underwear, social security card, etc.....  Refer to your list when you are with him so you don't forget the ss card to hand over to him!  You will have less chance of forgetting this way~~  :)
