Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 804

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

So sweet....my cub!  Love it!  And thanks, SMIPA!

You got it! ;)

I got 2 letters from my son as well! It really is such a boost to see that envelope with their handwriting in the mail! My son was saying his numbers weren't great in his first PT either, but he also said they were all pretty sick when they had to take it so all things considered he didn't seem too bothered. He said he got the first letters from home last Friday, (and I'm in Ohio) and I've been sending something every day too. Hopefully your son has started receiving your letters by now missy123. Good luck to all recruits that have to have their wisdom teeth pulled. My son had his out last year, so he won't have to worry about it, but I'll be praying for all those that have to have theirs out that the process goes smoothly and they are back to duty quickly.  Hopefully with next week being Christmas week, they will all get to call home at some point.

Today is one of those "random cry" kinda days. Thought I was doing well and then a song comes on the radio, or I see his favorite food while at the grocery store, and the waterworks start. Really wish the calls would start coming for our group of sailors. I keep seeing, in other groups, how they are all getting tons of letters, and some groups are even getting a second call in a week! Meanwhile, radio silence from our boys. I don't know, maybe they are stricter with the amount of communication they allow to the 800's. Kind of makes sense, but sucks for moms. I'm glad the other moms and dads are so pumped about talking to their kids but man, I would love to hear his voice right about now! Instead I just keep re-reading his one short letter home.

Part of me feels a little guilty about being sad. He is following his heart, living his dream, pursuing a goal he has wanted for probably more years than I know. And I am happy for him. I truly am. But another part of me wishes he had accepted the very good job offer he got that would have kept him close to home, and while maybe not safe from harm (it would have been in law enforcement), maybe safer from harm.

I just know that I am so incredibly proud of the choices he has made. Half the time I feel like my chest is going to burst, I'm so damn proud. The other half of the time I am choking on worry (that he might be medical rolled for something) or sadness that he is going to be so far from home for who knows how many years.

Some days it is just really, really hard being a mom.

Wendy2110, hang in there.................I think we can all relate to how you are feeling, and it's great to have a place like this to share with other moms that really get it.

I'm with you, I'm so proud of my son for following his dream, and being so committed to making it happen, but the other part of me thinks, couldn't you have chosen something a little less dangerous? In regards to lack of communication, I wonder if part of it is they(the Navy) are preparing us for what is to come, when we will have long periods of time where we won't be able to hear from them (and we won't even know where they are).

I would think with next week being Christmas week, they are going to let them call home at some point, even if it can't be Christmas Day due to all the SR's that are up there. Or, maybe since our division hasn't gotten to call home at all, they will be the lucky ones that actually get to make a call Christmas Day.

I agree that some days it's really hard being a mom. We raise them up to stand on their own feet, make their own decisions, be a self supporting, productive member of society, and then when they start actually doing that it can be really hard. (especially with the career path our guys have chosen).

My thoughts exactly, JinCincy. That would've been what I had written!  You and Wendy2110 could be my sisters - we sound so much alike!

So proud of our guys.  Hugs to all!

That's exactly what I say all the time JinCincy. I raised my kids to be independent and stand on their own two feet. Then they stand on those feet and walk away! Lol! Brats! My older son is still back in NY (where we originally lived) so I only get to see him once, maybe twice a year. Now my middle one joined the Navy and will be far from home. I feel bad for my youngest. I'm not letting her out of my sight! ;)

You took the words right out of my mouth, Wendy2110.  Seems like we think the same way.  :)  I know that feeling - about to cry but so freakin' proud.  Hang in there.  Know that you have a support group here who is feeling EXACTLY the way you are!!  We have raised fine, strong men.  It's time to watch them and support them grow in a new and different way.  Hugs.

Okay!  Just booked our tickets to PIR.  If you're in Texas, we found some really good flights with Expedia - just under 300/each.  When we were looking last week, the tickets were 600 each!  Woohoo!

I also RSVP'd for Sarge's Meet and Greet...I would love to meet up with other 804 moms while there!  Is everyone else going?  We should make up a few signs and reserve a table for the 804 group, don't you think?  It would be great to connect with you all there!

MommaBear - that's great!  My husband booked us on Southwest and he got awesome rates as well.

I haven't RSVP's for the Meet and Greet yet, but we are definitely going!!  And, yes, we absolutely need our 804 group together!!  It will be so awesome to meet.  Isn't it funny how much we feel like we know each other after just 3 short, but very long weeks!  We have something very unique in common and we all have that same Mother's heart for our boys!

Let's all try to make a few 804 signs to reserve a table at the Meet N Greet -- that way, whoever gets there first can snag a table or two for all of us to be together!  :)

I have RSVP'd for the meet and greet as well, although I hope I did it correctly................it didn't ask for a number of people in my group? We are only going to have 3 instead of the allotted 4.  I'd love to meet all the other moms while there as well and am up for making a sign to help reserve a table  (although artist I am NOT, so beware, LOL!). We are planning on driving, since we are in Ohio and it's only about a 5-6 hr drive so I've heard. Just praying for NOOOOOOOO snow that weekend, LOL!

We will be staying at the Springhill Suites while there as well. I know someone else here said they were staying there, right?
