Hi all! My son arrived 12/9. Got "The Box" 12/16. Form letter finally came yesterday afternoon. Will be sending him his first letter as soon as the post office opens tomorrow! Probably won't get there for Christmas. Sad. My boy is in 913. He had already been out of the house & on his own for college & then working, but it's so different not being able to see him or talk to him at anytime. My first Christmas without him in 28 years (his whole life). But, this decision was well considered & well researched, that I am so so proud of him. Look forward to getting to know all ya'll & meeting up in February!

My sailors recruiter told me that 4 guests were allowed to come, but is we the group says 3. Has anyone recieved a form letter and can confirm how many guests are allowed at PIR?
Comment by diannep on December 21, 2014 at 8:39am

Good Morning!

This PIR group may not receive held mail until AFTER Christmas (usually it is given to them the first time on a Sunday..about 2 weeks after arrival)....but maybe they can hurry up the training of the Recruit Mail Petty Officers in each division so that they can receive their "Christmas" mail by Christmas!  Once they have received this held mail, they will be allowed to mail out every Monday (collected on Sunday) and receive mail M-F.

The recruiters should have a mailing address for your SRs if the form letter is taking too long to arrive.  You can write to that one, but be sure to check it with the form letter address (which is the correct one) when it arrives....sometimes a division may be moved to another ship after the recruiter receives the original address.....if your mail was addressed to that first address, it will get there, but may take a little longer.  Use the form letter address.  Most times, the recruiter's address will be the correct one.

Hey Shannon, did you get a call today? My son arrived there late on the 10th and his box came the 13th. Anxiously awaiting the letter so I can at least send him a letter for christmas.

Still no forum letter.  The recruiter told me that she is Division 913 Ship 2 PIR 2/6/15.  Anyone here who is same division already have letter?

The divisions start out with 88+ Recruits. By the time they graduate they are about 65-75 strong. They lose some and gain some recruits along the way for various reasons.

In the summer months enlistment goes up and divisions can start with 100 Recruits.
