My son moved from Groton to San Diego in April.  He is still working toward his Dolphins.  He has not been on a deployment yet, and I was wondering if you could give me some ideas on a halfway box.  Not sure where to start! We really appreciate any advice on what is most beneficial to them.  Thanks so much!

Karen congratulations to your son on earning his Dolphins!

Wow, the weather looks pretty crazy according to the Weather Channel! Wishing you all well and that you don't lose power! Stay warm and safe!

Johanna my son has duty tomorrow a.m. at 6 a.m. too. He lives in Norwich about 20 mins from base and drives a rather small car....hope he can actually get there. Are we allowed to say which sub our sons are assigned to? I mean OPSEC allows is it ok? I was going to ask if by chance they are on same sub in Groton.

J's/S My son is in Groton. The bases closed at 4:00 today. Unfortunately my sailor has duty tomorrow morning at 6 AM for 12 hours so he is considered essential personnel...;( It's already snowing, but it's all good fun!!

bcgoldy - thanks - you too! My sailor is now in VA and missing all the snow fun! His boat is in dry dock for another year and has indicated when he goes out on a ride-along his ONLY job will be to get qualified Hopefully his NUB status won't be too bad!

bcgoldy03, remind your son that you are his mom and it is your job to always worry. Sometimes I try and not go on on but sometimes you just have to. Trust me it is funny when you do go on and they look at you and say I know you are the mom.

I want to say Congratulations to all the mom's who mentioned their Sailors getting their Dolphins right around this time!! It is a giant step for the sailors and really changes their experience on board the sub. My son was on an extended surge deployment ( 4 months) as a NUB and i gather that is not the ideal way to experience a long time on the sub lol. He survived of course but Congrats to all who got them along with my son, because it means so much to them. And again I am very thankful to have this group to get a little reassurance and support when needed about all things Navy. I am here in CT with you Cath as you know so please all stay safe. I spoke to my sailor last night who has duty tomorrow from a.m. on and he bit my head off when i inquired about safety, driving, being stuck anywhere,etc...."MOM!! Stop!! We are all fine and stop worrying!" Sigh ... ok. Hard to do though
