Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

I'm trying to read back through the posts & get caught up. Slowly but surely!

NancyJo - congrats on the news of a new grandbaby!  That's exciting ;-)  When is the due date?

8isenuff - how was power school grad?  Did your kiddos make it to NY safely?  I hope they were able to get settled in to their new apt.

lizzy - look in the discussion forum above.  I think there might be some info on housing in Charleston, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I'll post a few pics from our trip to NY......

My MM son is due to graduate Power School at the end of March.  He has requested grad and go, but to stay in Charleston for prototype.  He has started exploring off -base housing in and around Goose Creek.  He wants to live alone because he will be bringing a new bride aboard in the fall.  Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks sportykr.  I sent the package Fed Ex with the address Patrick gave me.  He hasn't been assigned to a ship yet but hopefully it will get to him.  All the rest of the address is the same and I have his name correctly written on the form.  I have the tracking number and as soon as I get confirmation of delivery, I will text him (he has a cheap "burner" phone as he calls it right now.

Lil054--advice about mailing.....as long as they (sailor) have a tracking number, it is good. DON't ever send a plain envelope/letter. I sent one to my son and THEY returned it to me with "UNABLE TO FORWARD"  and IT WAS THE SAME ADDRESS I PUT ON HIS PACKAGES!!!!! As a matter of fact I just mailed him his "birthday" box on Thursday and received it yesterday---no problem.

Comment by Lilo54 on January 27, 2015 at 7:58pm

He doesn't have a class number because he doesn't class up until Friday and hasn't been assigned one yet.  He gave me the address without a class number.  I hope he gets the package!

Dittersmom - I know that your son was re-comping today.  Any news yet?

Thanks NancyJo - yes there was some concern with the storm that was hitting NY, but lucky for us we were out of there late Saturday so no issues.

Glad to see we have so many newbies - Welcome!.....make sure to join the Boot Camp group and then your PIR group.  Also, as Nancy said read up on the info to the right.  That will answer many of your questions.

I always used the USPS "If it fits, it ships" box.  Never had a problem with any delivery to either GC or NY.  The large box is about $15.80 to send and you can track it. Gets there in 2 days.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on January 27, 2015 at 6:24pm

Tracking numbers are recommended, I think, so your sailor knows when it will be there. To wait for them to notify him that he has a package can take a while.
