NancyJo - it's also nice because Mommamac and I have met on 2 separate occasions now (she's in FL and we are in CA).  We haven't been able to meet her hubby yet but we are all hoping to meet up in VA sometime - especially since our boys will be there for a while now!  After A school grad our son was able to go to their house in FL for leave.  He had a great time with them....It is nice to see lasting friendships formed.

B'sNukeMom I'm going to print out your comments and save them in a safe place for when we get a chance to visit; sounds like great places to eat.

I think the friendships they make while going thru the pipeline are another one of the perks of being a Nuke.

Yep, my husband lives in shorts!  He was not happy that I made him wear pants to the graduation LOL.  But he survived! Die hard Packers Fan.....Sunday is not going to be an enjoyable day for either he or Sailor :(

The 2 stripes indicate my sailor is now an MM2. Machinist Mate 2nd class Petty Officer (E5 paygrade).

B'NukeMOm, I loved the story of the friendship between your and Mommamac's sons. My navy nuke son-in-law has 4 guys that were in the navy with him and they are tight. They stood up in each other's weddings. They settled in different parts of the country but occasionally my SIL will get on the phone with 1 of them and talk for hrs. Those are friendships that will last for their lifetimes. Another byproduct of the military that is really special

NancyJo - So glad your sailor will be home for the baby's arrival!  Fingers crossed that plans don't change :-/

KimberlyDi - glad to hear they all made it safe & sound! Is your sailor also living in Winners Circle Apts?  My son lived there - nice places. Ballston Spa is a beautiful area.

Hopefully they will get some time to explore.  Best breakfast place around - The Iron Roost in downtown Ballston Spa. That was my sailor's favorite place to go - he & his buddies were regulars there.  We went Saturday before we flew home.  The owner was so nice - she told my son how much she was going to miss him, gave him a big hug & wished him the best.  It was actually a little sad!

We went to Auggies for family style Italian food the night before graduation.  There were 9 of us - sailor, his 2 roomies & families.  We had way too much food but boy was it good!

Friday night after graduation we went to a nice steakhouse in Saratoga Springs - Jacob & Anthony's.  19 of us...had a very nice dinner and afterwards went to the local tavern. It was interesting watching all the sailors together - they've all been in BS for a year and now they are heading to different ships. A few tears were shed!

I'm so thankful that my son & Mommamacs son will be together in VA. Different ships but they are getting an apartment together.  They graduated boot camp together (but were in different divisions so didn't really know each other) and became friends in A school.  They've gone through the pipeline together and shared an apartment in NY.  They've become the best of friends!

B'sNukeMom I especially like the Packer hat and the shorts! As I am still learning, what do the two stripes mean?

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on January 28, 2015 at 11:55am

B'sNukeMoM, I love the photos!! Husband still had to wear shorts. Tough guy! LOL You all look so happy and proud, as well you should. Congratulations and so glad you made it home OK.

Baby due in September. Sailor will be back from deployment so God willing will be there when the baby comes. So exciting!

B'sNukeMoM:  My son convoyed up there with 8isenuff's two sailors.  They made it there safely on Monday and had just enough time to get their apartment and some groceries before the storm hit.  I'm so relieved that they made it up there safely.
