N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Diannep-no, we will be at Marriott Courtyard Waukegan.

We booked our hotel - the Hampton inn at libertyville I think it is about 5 miles from graduation - if anyone knows if that's a bad choice please let me know and we can change it
Comment by Navymomaj on January 28, 2015 at 5:26pm

We are booked as well. Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Forest.

Comment by diannep on January 28, 2015 at 4:54pm

FLNavyMom:  When you say "the Marriott," do you mean Residence Inn (owned by Marriott)?

Comment by NavyMom260 on January 28, 2015 at 4:17pm

I am staying at Marriott in Waukegan as well, DENavyMom.  Can't wait!

Comment by Angel on January 28, 2015 at 4:10pm
We booked our room last night! 2 miles away! We opt to go a little cheaper on our room since flying from NC. Be glad when it's time to pack :) missing our son!
Comment by FLNavymom on January 28, 2015 at 3:12pm
Also! My husband has tried to combine flight/car/hotel to see what the cost would be. By our best guess, it comes out roughly $100 +- different than reserving each separately. Sorry for being a little chatty today. LOL! Just wanted to share our findings.
Comment by DENavyMom on January 28, 2015 at 3:09pm

I booked our airfare and hotel today.  Opted to fly vs. spending 12+ hours driving.  Was able to get airfare for $309 per person from Philadelphia to Chicago O'Hare and staying at the Marriott in Waukegan.

Comment by FLNavymom on January 28, 2015 at 3:06pm
RPSmother-sorry about not getting back to you sooner. That was the rate initially given to us as well. After my husband told them why we were going to be there they gave us the $94 rate.
Comment by FLNavymom on January 28, 2015 at 3:02pm
We are still weighing driving vs flying. It will be a 16 hour drive for us. Travel time flying will only be about 4 hours shorter.

Be sure to tell the hotel you are attending graduation. We chose the Marriott because it has a little restaurant in it. We are not familiar with the area and didn't want to waist time looking for a place to eat with our new sailor. That being said, I'm sure we will look around and may end up at a local place for dinner. If we have time.

We will definitely try to make it to Sarges the night before. Hopefully we will meet some of you on this forum.
