OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Our sailor just switched to Aviation Ordinanceman and is at NAS Whidbey Island WA. Is there a Mom's discussion group for this rate and perhap at this location?

Rating, not rate. Rate is pay grade i,e. rank.

Here's the group:

Also, here's the AO info card:

Most of the Whidbey Island moms are on the Washington/Oregon group, they are really helpful. My sailor was at Whidbey Island as an AO, completed her enlistment two years ago. They are mostly VAQ squadrons on Whidbey Island, they work with the Growler jets, and each squadron is assigned to a carrier, there used to be two expedionary squadrons that had ground duty. Lots and lots of AO's on Whidbey.

Just saw this post and I really hope you sailor is enjoying their time in Oak Harbor.  That is where I was stationed and 2 of my children were born.  (the oldest is the daughter who is enlisting now and she would love to be stationed there)  It took some time to get used to the slower life style there, as I came from Northern NJ, but I hope to retire there someday.

Anyone out there with sailor in VAQ-132?
Who's the best person at the squadron to touch base with to get the latest news re deployment, squadron news, and care pkg ideas and info? Ombudsman, PAO, CMC, or...
Any AO Moms out there? I haven't been on this website for many months now but am back now. Thanks. AO Mom, VAQ 123.
To CryptoDad: Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Unfortunately, the squadron's Ombudsmen email you provided is incorrect. I tried sending an email, but it was returned saying it was undeliverable as no gmail account by that name exists..
