N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Well, I'm no navy mom but I sure feel you're pain ladies and gents! My SR is in ship 14 div 112.  Anyone else? Waiting on that first letter from him and maybe a phone call somewhere along the lines. *crosses fingers with intensity* :D

Yes, once PIR is over, you will get your sailor for the rest of the day until early that evening.  Then your sailor must return to RTC to get ready to be bussed to the airport (most leave on Fri night/early Sat morning but occasionally some don't leave until Sat night/Sun morning).  You can take ID with you to the airport and meet your sailor there, then get the airlines gate pass....if you get the airlines gate pass, you can wait at the gate until your sailor departs.

Since you are only 45 min away, if that is within a 50-mile radius, she could actually go home with you for part of the day.

Mines going to P-cola for A school, do they get to leave after graduation for family time? I hate to waste $ at a hotel when I'm 45 mins away but of she can hang out with her little sisters for awhile I'll gladly do it.
Comment by diannep on January 30, 2015 at 10:21am

Yes, Mamabear, good idea to book a room now.  They fill up.  Call the hotels directly and ask for the Navy Grad discount. Some to consider are:

Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn....if your sailor is NOT staying in GL for A school, you can also call Navy Lodge.  Book that one in your SR's name and say you will be there for graduation (unless you have your own military ID).  If your sailor is staying in GL for A School, we don't recommend Navy Lodge.  Sometimes those sailors are not allowed to visit families in their rooms at Navy Lodge during PIR weekend.
