So excited received 3 letters today!!!.  She asked for stamps so bought her a book to send with an encouragement card.  She told me my letters are helping her so I am making sure I send one everyday.  Also she has blisters so tried Walgreens but they didn't carry it.  Hopefully Walmart does.

adpsmom:  Write your SR and and ask him/her to let you know their BattleStations date when they know it.  It can be anywhere from Thurs night, week before PIR week (overnight drill....calls the next day) to going during PIR week.

You are welcome, crit2015!

Call the hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.  Navy Lodge doesn't have one, but many of the others do-- but you have to call the hotel directly.  Book now as there is a liberal cancellation policy for most hotels, usually up to day of arrival.

If you want to book flights now, you can try Southwest Airlines since they charge no change fee if your SR gets delayed.....and 2 bags check for free.  They fly into Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).  For those with sailors flying out for A School, try and stay until Sunday if possible....your sailor most likely will fly out on Saturday (you can meet them at the airport and visit until departure, bring ID for an airlines gate pass to wait at the gate), but sometimes they may not fly out until Sunday so if you can stay until later afternoon on Sunday, you just may get extra time with your sailor.

Those staying in GL for A School will have Daytime Liberty through the weekend .  We suggest that those with sailors staying in GL for A School NOT stay at Navy Lodge at this time as lately, there have been some problem with those sailors being allowed to visit their families at Navy Lodge.  Hopefully that problem will be resolved in the future, but you may not want to take a chance.  Those with sailors flying out will have no issues with their sailors visiting their Navy Lodge rooms.

Other hotels to consider are:

Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites....all close to each other, about 4-5 miles from RTC, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held for you the night before PIR.

My son is division 105, I feel like I'm the only mom that hasn't received a phone call or letter yet. I did send him the free phone cards which now I find out probably don't work, just sent a regular one in yesterday's mail. Hoping that not hearing from him isn't because he isn't being allowed to call. So worried & I need to ask him an important question before I book my flight. Hopefully he finally got all the mail I sent him & I'll at least get a letter soon.
