For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Dee. Congrats to your son. We all wish him the best coming back to civilian life!! :) my boyfriend is currently still at DLI Monterey. Graduates in October, what was your sons experience like? What were his duty stations and deployments like?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group. My wife is graduating RTC on Friday and is headed to DLI on Saturday! She was assigned MSA, so we're excited to start this journey with the Navy.

Wow Dee! Please keep is updated on what job offerings he has as a civilian! My son is about at the 4 year mark & said he will not be re-enlisting. He's got 2 more years & then 2 more of reserves. I think he is getting very tired of deploying to Bahrain. I wish the navy would let him experience a nice deployment so he would maybe reconsider but we don't get to chose unfortunately!

does anyone know where I could find a patch with the CTI and Navy seal on a shield? or a patch for CIDU Monterey? I'd like to put something like that on a hat for me, proudly wear it around town. I've seen patches for ratings, ships, bases, but nothing for CTI or Monterey. I wondered if it's partly due to being a small field of people, and Monterey is a joint base...

I am new to this site but have found it very helpful so far. Most of my questions have been answered just from searching through the discussion board. My boyfriend is a sailor currently at DLI right now and is halfway through his program. We met in college and after we graduated he decided to enlist. I was so happy and supportive of his decision. Since boot camp i have had many opportunities to visit beautiful Monterey, we even had the chance to travel for christmas vacation. We have talked about plans of me moving with him once he graduates DLI, I decided to pursue and online Masters degree so that i can accomplish that from anywhere around the country. I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the life of a CTI. for example, duty station, duration of deployments, land duty. any advise would be greatly appreciated. And thank you in advance for all the warm comments!

My son has just arrived back from his 2nd deployment!! He is going to come visit me in a few days since they get some time off after each deployment!! I am soooo excited!! It's like a 24 hour flight process for him to get there and back so I'm sure he is sleeping right now but I can't wait to hear my phone ring!

My daughter graduated basic Friday and is now at DLI! I really hope she is able to master her language she chose.

MaryH: One of the stories that my son told me was about a commander that came back to visit during his stay. He shared the story of his family. 4 of them went to DLI, 2 graduated from the language school and 2 of them were sent to the fleet due to lack of ability. He reminded the sailors that going to the fleet does not mean that they are not good sailors. It means that there is a job in the Navy that is a better fit for them. I had to have a chat with my son and remind him that it is not our plan and what happens out of DLI was "meant to be". REassure your daughter that something awesome is ahead for her. My husband for example was in sub school and could not finish for health reasons, he ended up driving the USS Missouri. Pretty awesome gig. She will end up great!!
