Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

RPSMother,

Oh, that's so great that your SR son has moved up another pay grade!  That exam is not easy to pass~~Congrats to him!!

bzmomof7kids,

Glad you got in touch with your daughter on FB and her ear is healing.  You are totally right that our God does indeed have another door that will open up for her.  In the meantime, her hearing needs to be evaluated when she gets back home.  Ronin will be one happy doggie when she is back!!

Mamabear:  If your SR isn't using a phone card, how is she able to call you???  It never hurts to mail her one....if she doesn't need to use it all, she can share it with her shipmates if someone has used theirs up.

Found out yesterday that my SR passed his E2 exam last week!  Yeah!

@M&MsMom Cool, that your son in on the same ship as my son.

Also, this is just a reminder to all .. Never say "boat" or you will get reprimanded and your SR may as well.  My grandmother told me this morning, she made mistake over 60 years ago and go into sever trouble.

My daughter called yesterday. apparently ship 12 division 109 has gotten into trouble a lot. Frustrating her, was the second phone call we got. This time she was crying ( OUTTA frustration ) but by the end of the call she was better. I do not believe she is calling off a calling card, although we sent her with one. Wondering if I should send her another one. Said everything smells stale there. So I sprayed perfume on the paper. Said they are sharing letters Cuz some have gotten no letters yet.

bzmomof7kids:  I too hope you hear something from your daughter soon.  It is so hard for parents when they are always "there" for their kids when sick/injured, but in the Navy, that is not the case anymore....can be scary for the SR as well.  But hoping that she is getting the medical attention she needs (they are good about that)....and can be in touch with you soon.

boyscoutmomtoo:  So glad that you did that....wonderful that he will be able to share his card with others.  There are always some whose cards won't work, they just ran out of minutes, etc.  My son was in mid-sentence with me when up at Bootcamp, card ran out of minutes and he was cut off, he was right by the NEX and able to buy another one right away and called me right back.  But it doesn't always work that way!
