N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

nurse and mom of a navy sailor,

Have you looked into the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes?  It is something like $66/$78 per night and some have kitchenettes (check on whether it is just a stovetop or oven too), which will save you on food costs too.  Book under your SR's name~~  Very clean and has really good reviews!

I had already seen some bad comments about the Ramada. I did a lot of research and it seemed like all of them had some pretty bad reviews. We are going to be there 4 nights and with that plus airfare for 3 and rental car I had to opt for something affordable. Hope I dont regret it!

MLML I havent gotten a call yet, just the I arrived one and only the form letter......although I did finally see a picture of him on the facebook website. Have you looked yet? Since they are in the same div/ship your son might be on there too. Seeing him made me feel so much better.

For those of you staying at the Ramada please go read the reviews. We have heard some not so great things directly from those who have stayed there in the past.

Hello everyone. Just looking for anyone who has a loved one in div 144 ship 12? I just booked my room. We decided to stay at the Ramada Inn. Has anyone else had any experience with this hotel?

mer:  There may be a chance of snow in April, I would think, but they keep the roads nice and clear up there.  I am a S FL girl and had no problem negotiating the roads up there in Feb 2010.  Lots of snow everywhere!   It is always more cost efficient to rent a car.....Sarge gives a discount but still the "shuttles" can get costly to/from the airport and around town.  You can get discounts on the car,  car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee in the event you take Southwest Airlines into Milwaukee ( 45 min drive to GL).   Also, in the past Southwest offered a discount coupon for car rental if you booked with them.  Southwest charges NO change fee if your SR is delayed in training and plans change, and 2 bags check for free.  They also fly into Chicago-Midway, which is an hour+ from GL depending on Chicago traffic.

TwinMommy:  I have to agree with CatMom.  Very pretty, but hoping she has RDCs that don't mind how colorful it is!  We recommend white envelopes because there are some RDCs that will give the SRs a hard time with the colored envelopes.  Stickers and glitters are a no no also.  Hopefully all is ok though!  I just think next time, I would decorate the letter itself!  :-)

Comment by CatMom509 on February 26, 2015 at 4:50pm

Twin Mommy,

That is a very pretty envelope and I hope none of the RDCs decide to make a big deal about it.  Some do, some don't.  it depends on the division if they will be looking for any excuse to give extra exercise.  I would encourage you to include your artistry inside your letters for her to enjoy though~~  :)

Please check out the Letter Writing Fun... article up on the Pages section on the upper right side of this page~~
