Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

I am going to do the POA as well. I am on some of her accounts but I think that would be easier.

My daughter bought a computer at the NEX in GL right after PIR. The price was good. That was the first thing she wanted to do. She loves the NEX...probably a little too much!

When our younger son was in high school, we got him a credit card.  Our younger son was not very responsible at that time. Went over the limit on a number of occasions, so my husband decided to put his name on the account as well (to make it easier to pay the bill). Fast forward 10, we did a credit check for a refi. Those overdrafts showed up on my husband's credit check. Another thing, do not keep social security info in the car.  Someone broke into the same son's SUV. He had a copy of an application for employment with his social security number. The thieves started an account at Home Depot - purchase $500 worth of stuff. They also started an account at JC Penny's and purchased a wedding ring.  He has LifeLock or something like that on his credit cards now.

I figure they need to hear it over and over. I know they are adults but they are really just grown up kids at this point. I can see mine thinking "this is such a nice guy and he told me he was honest." LOL. Thanks so much for the heads up!!!

I am hoping if my son hears it enough it will sink in- (About being careful of his information). I sent him another text and told him that, as bad as it sounds, he shouldn't trust "civilians" on this navy joirney. His response: Oh I know, I've already gotten that speech from like 4 Chiefs, 2 master Chiefs, a lieutenant, and the Captain. LOL - glad to know the navy is training them well!!

Awesomemom- I had that "panic moment" when I started reading online about PACT. My son never got his DAR, but I think this is best for him. I have read lots of positive since then and I am thankful for the people I've met on here that have helped us on this journey so far. I wouldn't be surprised if my son changed his mind on what he originally thought he wanted. I am happy that this is the "route" he is taking.

yup...am on the account too...good thing bc he lost his ATM card in A school, actually it got washed at the cleaners in a uniform pocket...think he has gone thru 5 cards now with "fraud".....I do tell the wives to make sure they are watching the accounts too, don't just assume it's their sailor doing the charging.....:)
