N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!

Hmmm, Sarah'sMom.  Don't think I would do that, not allowed, unless she was sending them to her RDCs!  They are not allowed to have anything like this.  You may want to write her and ask her if she cleared this with her RDCs.  RTC is clear about no "care pkgs" being sent to the SRs and I believe candy would be classified as that (HA), even though she obviously plans to share with her division!  :-)

Hi PIR Group...

Anyone have a sailor going to Pensacola for A school, we'd love to have you join us in the Pensacola group, lots of information and a few Moms that stuck around to help guide you thru A school...another step in the Navy journey!

On Bootcamp Pay.....all SRs are paid at E-1 level during Bootcamp, no matter whether they are E-1, E-2, or E-3.  They then receive retro pay if higher than E-1 after Bootcamp which could possibly take up to 2 mos to receive

Texasmom:  You are so right!  The toughest RDCs seem to produce the most solid sailors!  Seems to be the same way for school teachers/professors, right?  The teachers I despised when I had them were the ones I thanked after graduation because they pushed me to my greatest potential (a college one I had actually helped me to get my first job!).  Same with the tough RDCs.....At the end of Bootcamp, the sailors have the greatest respect for these RDCs because then they "get it."  I hope you get to meet your son's RDCs after graduation and thank them!

Sarah'sMom:  They are bussed to the airports in the wee hours of the morning....checking in around 3 or 4 a.m. and then all wait for flights---they can leave throughout the day.  The earliest ones fly out at 6 a.m.  Most flights will go out on Saturday, but sometimes they go out on Sunday (some of them).  No way to tell what time she will be leaving or which day yet....she won't have her flight info until right before PIR.

Does any know if they leave on Sunday what time do they leave early am or pm....Trying to figure out when my daughter leaves for Pensacola..

Sarah's Mom,

If you end up leaving before your SR daughter does, then yes, you would need to ship her cell phone, laptop etc.. to her. She will find a way to get you her A school address by borrowing someone's cell phone or getting on a computer and emailing you.  Let's hope she just flies out on Saturday~~
