Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by DebP on February 28, 2015 at 6:43pm: Ship 4 Division 145. He called his girlfriend this morning! She said he sounded good and finds it challenging but fun! He isn't real thrilled about the new haircut! So good to know he is doing ok. Such a relief. Please let me know if our sons or daughters are in the same ship/division. Would be fun to connect! Also, for those out there that have gone through this do you recommend sarges meet and greet the Friday eve before PIR?

Comment by diannep on February 28, 2015 at 4:08pm: scrappyjax is correct. They have this card for supplies....and yes, they pay for it. Feel free to mail them a phone card....get one with at least 250 min on it. That way, they will have plenty of minutes....the pay phones eat up alot of the minutes when connecting. They also will be able to share with another SR who may have not purchased a card yet or ran out of minutes on his/her's.

By the way, I am one of the N4Moms veterans here to help. I have been helping on the PIR groups now for over 5 yrs. My son is now out of the Navy and just completed his Bachelors degree, courtesy of the GI Bill, this past Dec. I stay on here because I love this site and helping the Bootcamp families! After reading through the PAGES section, to the right and top of this page, should you still have any questions, please post them here. One of us will get to them as soon as we can!

Comment by scrappyjax on February 28, 2015 at 4:01pm: My son said that they gave them an NEX card with money on it, and that's what he used to pay for shipping to mail his box and to buy the phone card. The money comes out of their first paycheck.
