My son swore in yesterday and has a date of August 12th for BMT.  His contract is for Aviation Ordnanceman (AO).  He is super excited. I am feeling emotional and overwhelmed.  Anyone else have a son leaving on August 12th, 2015?

My son is leaving August 12th as well. I am feeling the same way..lol..I even tear up just watching short stuff about bootcamp.

Glad to know someone else out there has a son leaving on the same day!  My son is a senior graduating this year and leaving this summer...its alot to take in.

My son will have his 23rd birthday in BC..lol..What a birthday! I am proud but emotional..I have never been away from him for very long at all. I know this is the right thing for him though..Navy can give him all the things i cannot. He is going in for SECF. So i wont see him much due to him being under water..lol

Oh my goodness my son will be celebrating his 19th a Birthday in boot camp too! Crazy! He is currently going in as (AO)contract but he is training now to qualify for Navy Diver. If he gets it his plans after BMT will change as he will go to Dive school.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Well, we should be proud of our young men. I think they both have made great decisions. Though as mothers we will be going crazy with worry. It's hard to let go even though he is 22. He is my only child and we are very close. I have to keep reminding myself that this IS a good choice and he will be amazing at all he does. As your son will be as well. All i can keep thinking about is..I hope i gave him all the right tools to get him through. lol..i am such a worrywort.

I can tell you've had someone in another branch of the military since you refer to boot camp (BC) as BMT (Basic Military Training).

My nUncle is still in the Airforce and my cousin did navy

:o)

In the Air Force, it is BMT. In the Navy, it's Recruit Training, but we call it boot camp or BC.

Awww my son's bootcamp was moved up almost 3months and now he will be celebrating his 19th birthday at bootcamp too! I am trying to take all this in-it's been a whirlwind week for us.

Josh celebrated his 19th birthday on his second day of processing.  I got the I'm here call just before midnight on the 12th (when he shipped) and didn't get a chance to tell him Happy Birthday.  I didn't know about this site and didn't understand they were under strict orders to only say certain things.  When I started to ask him a question he hung up on me.  Boy I wish I had found this site sooner.

My son will be celebrating his 19th birthday in BC too! We are in the same "boat" and our kids on the same ship in BC, haha. Hope you get your letter today!
