I appreciate the welcome, Tiffany. I am very excited to be a part of such an illustrious group of moms! My 19 year old daughter does not ship out until November, she is headed to Nuclear School after boot camp. Could not be more proud! Looking forward to sharing and gaining new friends. GO NAVY!

Thank you.  I am new to the Navy. My daughter did not tell me anything that would help me.  I have been affiliated with the Army for last 10 years, that does not include the time I served back in 1988. This is so different to me.  I want to thank you and all that contribute to this site.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for all you do for this site!  I've tried to search this answer but only find older comments.  My SR will stay in GL for A school and I want to buy him a laptop for graduation.  I know he can have his phone Friday night once he's checked out of RTC, but can he have a laptop?  Do you know for sure?  Otherwise I'll have to cancel an order for one!  Eeek! Thank you!!

I have no idea how to do this, how to look for answers or ost or get a question answered.  So sorry to be a dinosuar but I just need a few answers so I can book my flights for May 1.  Please explain...

Thx for being there for me and other moms that are sooo proud and terrified. My son is in OCS in Newport. He is supposed to graduate May 1. I need info on what is going on there and when so I can plan my travel. Is there something going on the night before? What time? Where? Dress code? What time is graduation? Dress code? How long is ceremony? Is there a reception after? How long until all is done so I know what time we can get a flight home? Will my son be comin home with us or does he fly on his own? Thank you !!!!

Thank you for the contact, Tiffany! I will be spending as much time as possible on this site. Everyone is so supportive, and I feel completely out of my element here. I can't wait to read up on everything, so I feel like I have a clue.

Thanks again!

Kristi

Hi, my son at boot camp....supposedly graduating next week Friday. The thing though we haven't heard from him in about four weeks. Is he be able to call home before the graduation?

Yes, thank you for the information. I will try to look up the rules for the site. Im a little new to this and im using my tablet which seems to be a bit glitchy on this site so pleae be patient with me. The name Mongo is a nickname which my sailor recruit has called me for a long time. Nicknames are ok for this site right? Im not sure what url is attached to my profile but i will try to find out... also i was required to enter an email.  Will i need to open an email account that doesnt have my name in it?

Thank you so much Tiffany! Comforted knowing there is a website for all this great information.  My son enlisted last August, but was on the Delayed Entry Program and left last week, Feb. 24th for boot camp. I received the dreaded "box" already and am waiting for a letter from him or whoever to know about his PIR and looking forward to joining that PIR group on Facebook.  His 20th birthday was yesterday as well....so emotional week for mom for sure! ;) He is an ABH but he said he tested and moved up a level before he left last week...so guess that is good news for him (clueless mom about all this..haha)!
