N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ladies, make sure to check out Southwest Airlines into Milwaukee (45 min to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).  No change fee is charged by Southwest (in case your SR is setback) and 2 bags check for free.   Also a reminder to call the hotels directly and ask for the Navy Grad discount.

Tammy, there is no such thing as a stupid question :) We are here to help. They used to let extras in after all the guests on the list were seated but a lot of changes were made with fire codes etc and the rules changed. Most of the hotels have the live stream of the ceremony in their lobbies. So he could wait at the hotel and and then spend the rest of the day with all of you after the ceremony.

Tracye, I always suggest staying until Sunday if possible. Most of the sailors who have A-school in other locations will fly out on Saturday but there are almost always some who don't leave until Sunday. Sometimes there aren't enough flights available so they get pushed to Sunday. Those who fly out Saturday leave the base about 2 am Sat morning and most flights start around 6 am but can be anytime during the day. And you can meet them at the airport to get extra time with them.

momh, feel free to ask questions here as well or you can message me if you haven't heard from FTLW :)

My daughter had PIR in July 2010 and I have been helping here since then and I am one of the admin in the original facebok PIR groups. I am happy to help in anyway I can.
