OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Here is the promotion page for Southwest Airlines.  The Spring discounts must be booked by tomorrow....however, remember that Southwest is "changeable" without charging a change fee.  Two bags check for free too.  Check rates flying into both Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, cheaper car rental, no traffic) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).  Remember that if you have a sailor flying out and you plan to meet him/her at the airport, the sailors at this point are flying out of the 2 Chicago airports....but if you find cheaper airfare to Milwaukee, hopefully you can book your return either late Sat night or Sunday if you can stay until then so you don't miss time with your sailor.

Good Morning!

Have you checked the expiration on your photo ID? What about the others going with you? We had a mom a few months ago who got to the airport and could not leave for PIR because her license had expired. She had to leave, go to the DMV, get it renewed, go back to the airport and pay for another ticket later in the day. A very expensive ticket. Not Flying? You will still need it to get into PIR and they won't except one that has expired. So please make sure you check yours and have everyone going check theirs as well.

lamareo4:  I don't think there is a deadline to do this...so whenever you know your flight schedule, you can let Sarge know.  He has a nice team of drivers to take care of all of the arriving Navy families!

Comment by Sablepom on March 3, 2015 at 7:39pm
how far in advance do we need to call sarge and arrange to have a taxi be at the airport to pick us up and take us to hotel?
