Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Leaving for BC
Hi everybody,
My son leaves for boot camp in less than 2 weeks and naturally I am a nervous wreck. I have seen some of the videos and read some of the blogs and discussions and it has given me some comfort. I know that all moms and dads each have their own concerns. My main concern is being out of the loop for the 8 weeks that he is away. This will be his first time away from home. My son is 18, only took a semester in the university close to home and then decided that the Navy was the direction that he wanted to go in. He's extremely ecstatic, albeit a bit anxious. As his mother, I couldn’t be prouder, yet I am still worried and concerned for his well-being. Hopefully, through this mean I can communicate with other moms going through the same situation.

My daughter left a couple of weeks after high school. Once they can write or call to tell you everything is ok, it gets a little easier. Hang in there, 8 werks will go by fast

Thank you so much for replying. He hasn't left yet and I am already freaking out. I know he will be fine. Hopefully he will write at his first chance. I will be counting down the days until graduation.

I tried talking my SR out of joining the navy and to just go to college.He pretty much had his mind made up every time I tried to bring it up he would say mom go away.As I'm writing this I'm giggling because it was kinda funny the way he would say go away.Hes going on week 3 and still no letter or s call it does get to me but I have to say I'm so great full for this site with all the info out there I can follow my SR weekly.hang in there be strong help him fulfill his dream.

My son is now in A school, but I remember boot camp like it was yesterday. First, read everything you can on this site, particularly the OPSEC rules about what you can and can't post. When you get your son's form letter, it will have his ship, division and PIR date. You will be able to write to him, but send no packages. Join the PIR groups on this site and on Facebook. You will have a shoulder to cry on when you need it from people who really understand. You will also meet your son's classmate's parents and gain valuable information. I would not have made it through without this. Also, the recruits do earn calls home. Keep your phone handy and charged. Good luck to you and your son.

Thank you so much for your valuable information. I have been trying to read up on everything. It has been easing some of my concerns. I will definitely join the PIR group as soon as it becomes available. I know that it will help. Good luck to you and your son as well. Hi JudithMac I'm Drew and I know how you feel oh my gosh do I know. I miss my baby terribly he is 19 he left for bootcamp feb 18 and I've been a mess but I'm trying to stay busy because him and I used to do things every weekend. He's such a good kid and when he told me he wanted to go into the military I tried to make him change his mind, but he was dead set against it. If you can't beat em join em..lol. I'm still a bit down in the dumps but I'm getting better and I'm sure my son would not want me to be sad. I'm very proud of him though. I haven't received a phone call from him yet. I'm hoping within the next week. I keep my cell phone strapped to me lol. The hardest part is not nearing from him for almost 3 weeks. But Judith everything will be fine we have to let them go...I know it's hard but we have to.....smiling excuse any errors I'm legally blind

Hi Drew!!! It was the same with my son. When he told us he was going to enlist we begged him to give it more thought. I am very proud of him for his determination. He also is a wonderful son as I am sure that your son is. I will also be anxiously awaiting all his calls!!
No worries, everything was perfect. I wish the best to both you and your son! We both have wonderful, brave boys.

The time will fly by quickly ! The Navy will take good care of him :) Start writing him as soon as he leaves and when you get the Form letter with his address you can start mailing those letters off !! Believe me, letters from home keep them going :) And then there is PIR-Graduation ! My Son's PIR was 1-30-15.. It was the Proudest moment of my life !! Hang in there Momma, it's hard but you will get thru it just fine ..Big Navy Mom Hugs to you !

Thank you so much Karen!! The videos and blogs have been incredibly helpful. As well as all the comments. I am so happy to have found this forum. I will definitely start writing right away and I hope my son does so too as soon as he can. Kids these days are normally not into letter writing. Big Navy hugs to you too!!
