Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

TamTan,

You can check the Wyndham's reviews on www.tripadvisor.com or other travel sites~~

TamTan:  Will your new sailor be staying in GL for A School?  If so, then he will have Liberty from mid afternoon PIR Day (they move over there shortly after PIR is over and you pick them up a few hours later over there at A School), and then Saturday and Sunday also.  He must return to the A School base each night.  So if your family members come with you, there will be lots of time with your new sailor!

If he will be flying out, most likely he will be leaving on Sat.  They are bussed late Fri night to wait for Sat. flights.  Occasionally they may not leave until Sunday.  He will not know this for sure until he has his flights booked shortly before PIR.

My son called his gf on Sunday and they talked for 8 min. He said he's gotten so many letters he had to do extra push-ups. He reads them out loud because there so many people that don't get anything. I'm sending two cards at a time, I told him to give them to whoever needs the support :)
I'm staying at the Wyndam, any thoughts?? I haven't seen any post about it.
Will I hear from my son regarding his liberty?? I have a lot of family that wants to see him but they don't want to make the long trip if they can't spend some time with him.

Good Morning.  Has anyone received a phone call from their SR in division 135-136 yet?

Comment by CatMom509 on March 5, 2015 at 4:57pm

Tessal,

That great Holiday Inn Express I stayed at is at 611 Lakehurst Road, Waukegan, IL 60085.  They had the most yummy hot serve yourself breakfast with biscuits & gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles, pastries, cereal, coffee, tea, milk, etc...!!  They open earlier on PIR day~  Think it was up prior to 6:00 am.  Ask to make sure!

Also, there is an indoor pool.  If you want to enjoy that, let your SR know to bring their Navy issued swim attire too~~
