Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

navy1985, I know you got that info from the recruiter and I also know that it will be correct given his rating, but wait a few days before sending letters. See the Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and yes, Division 928 is Triple Threat.

lomom, I left info on the Nuke field on your My Page.

Others, if you would like info on your future Sailor's or recruit's contracted rating (job/specialty) or field, leave a comment on my My Page with the rating or field and I will put the info on your My Page. I have the info for all of the ratings and fields and also the 3 PACT programs. The info includes groups on N4M and some fB pages as well as the Rating Information Card and info to help you plan for PIR.

My son is going nuc.

I've been following http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 "What happens at bootcamp day per day"

It's interesting to have an idea of what they're doing. I haven't really cried since last week (before he left). I'm trying to let go. He's 20. He needs to grow up and live his own life and make his own way.

Meanwhile, I'm praying daily for him to do well, to be safe... and all others with him. <3

I'm looking forward to finding out the PIR date -- our younger son graduates high school May 23, and we may have to manage a conflict (younger son may actually blow off his own graduation to go to PIR). We'll see...!

I'm still wondering if my son was put into a push division since he arrived on a tuesday. I don't know if he will graduate on 5/15 or 5/22. Oh i'm so nervous about everything, but man am i excited and proud at the same time too!!!! ♡

Hey Tonys Ma, my son is A-PACT as well!!! I still don't know how i feel about him being undesignated. He arrived on tuesday, march 24! Hi Coryn's mom! How wonderful to get a second phone call! So happy for you! I still haven't heard anything else yet other than the 48 second i'm here call. Ugh, i wish i knew more. :)

Hello my son got to RTC yesterday-Wed. March 25th as well.  He isn't in the music program but am hoping he has the same PIR date. It was good to hear from him on the 30 sec call but hard to hear him say that he thinks its going to be a lot harder than he imagined.

Comment by ZetaMom on March 26, 2015 at 4:33pm

I understand how you feel Mamakweenb. I cried a few times while listening to the radio. I was out to lunch yesterday and I heard the song that my son and I would sing together. I had to go to the bathroom and cry for a moment. I miss him so much. Luckily, I got the "I'm here" call and another call last night. I felt like a million dollars when I received the second call. I had my phone in my bra so I wouldn't miss any calls.

Tonys Ma is your son in the music program? Got that from the Music Program Musicians that I kept in touch with. I posted it so others can have an idea.

Thanks Oleander! we are such a close family and it is sooooo different without having him here! Both of his sisters and their fiances and my husband and i are all planning on going to PIR. The fiances will wait in the hotel while we are at PIR. I just hope our SR can have 4 guests so that both sisters can attend! ♡
