N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Goat, here is the group for your SR's/sailor's job, but I see what you mean that it isn't very active.

A" School for Intelligence Specialist (IS) is in Dam Neck, VA at the Navy Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center (NMITC). Join Moms of IS (Intelligence Specialist) sailors.

Oh, and Goat.....I don't believe there is A School in Norfolk???  Not sure on that but haven't heard that.  Are you sure that is where he is going?  What is his Navy job going to be?

Goat:  Here is the link to the Norfolk group:

I hope you get a little private time with your new sailors!  It is easier when all "share" the sailors!  :-)

Good Morning!

Getting nervous about A school. I looked for a Norfolk A school group but couldn't find one. The group for his rate really isn't active. Anyone else going to Norfolk?

I really just want a bit of alone time with him, even if just for an hour, but that's not likely to happen this Friday as we'll be with his parents and they want to go out in Chicago all day. I'd rather just hang out in the hotel room/pool. But I'm scared I won't see him again for at least a month after this :(

Forever proud:  Ok, so he was in the group that went through last Thurs night!  It is possible he didn't pass his final PFA (fitness test). He cannot do BattleStations until he passes that.  He will get more chances to pass it.  Should have had one Friday, and will have a chance tomorrow (Mon) and Wed if needed.  If he passes, he will then do BattleStations with the next group going through.  If he doesn't pass until Wed, he wouldn't go through BattleStations until Thurs night.  He would be at PIR then, tired and probably sitting in the balcony (in uniform), but there as a sailor.

The rule is that families are not to go to PIR unless they hear again from their SR after receiving that dreadful call.  Families are not allowed to see their SRs....only their sailors.  Hopefully she will get another phone call from him early next week saying he passed.  When does she fly out?  If not until Thurs, that hoping she will know something before then.

If he doesn't pass by Wed, he will not make PIR.  He will be kept in FIT and keep trying to pass.  He gets 10 to 12 more chances, I believe, every 48 hours.  Once he passes then, he gets a brief Liberty and then heads to A School....no PIR once he misses his own.

Prayers for him!  This happens in every PIR group...and most will end up passing.  So prayers that he is one of them and she hears from him in time to go to PIR.

By the way, if she doesn't hear from him (they will only allow him to call if he passes, not if he doesn't)....she will not be allowed into PIR.  I would hate for her to lose money on the flight, so lets think positively that she will get that I'm a Sailor call in time for her flight!

Received our call Friday afternoon, hurried and made reservations. Oh and finally got a decent night sleep. He was concerned about passing his run also.

Question for veteran moms: my son's friend, who is in this TG, called his mom this week and through a scripted message told her he was not graduating becaused he had not passed something. I don't know if he didn't tell her exactly what the problem is, or if he used terms that she wasn't familiar with, but we don't know what to expect next. She cannot cancel her flight at this point without losing her money, so she is going to continue on with her plans with the hope of being able to at least see him.
Will he contact her again with further info? If he is unable to finish with this TG, will she be able to see or speak to him? If he does complete training, how late before PIR might he call her to say so?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. He is 14/132 and I understand all of them passed BS, but we don't know if he didn't pass his run, the swimming, something knowledge based, or what.
Thank you!

Thanks for the info diannep! Hoping to get a call on Tuesday. I have no idea how far off he is from completing his run so hopefully it's not by much and he can do it on time.

Blessed Sunday!
