Hi Julie. My son is also on the ship. Unfortunately, there isn't much activity on this page. It's always nice to hear from other "moms" though. :)

Hi everybody, my name is julie my son is on the Oscar Austin. I haven't been on here in a really long time. I got wrapped up in all the Facebook groups after boot camp.I didn't even think to come here and look for his ship until today. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi atammad. My son is on the Oscar Austin. I have sent packages twice now. The first time it only took 3 weeks and the second time it took 5 weeks. Other people have said it takes longer, but that is my experience. Always send them Priority Mail. Apparently, they move faster that way. There are Facebook pages for the Oscar Austin too, where you can get information. A page for the ship, as well as a page for the Family Readiness Group.

Just looking to connect with anyone having family on the Oscar Austin. My niece has been there for several months. Haven't had much communication with her and wondering how long it takes to receive packages on the ship? I'm in Oregon.

Hi casb8! My son said there's a few sailors from PA on the ship. Maybe they have met one another. My son also met the ship after it deployed - he had to have his wisdom teeth removed 3 days before deployment and they wouldn't let him leave with the ship until the doctor approved it. So three weeks later he flew out and met them. Unfortunately, his seabag was lost on the last leg of the journey. He loves deployment so much! I say it's because he was a fish in a past life. We're originally from New Jersey - right on the water - and he has always loved the ocean. We moved to PA 12 years ago to the Brodheadsville area and just moved down to Easton last May. Each time we move we get closer to Norfolk!

Hi Jesmom6 my son is deployed with the Oscar Austin and we are from Northeastern Pennsylvania near Scranton. My son said he spoke with another sailor from Pa but I don't know if it was your sailor. This is my sons first deployment. He met the ship after it was deployed.

Hi Jesmom6. It has been quiet on here for the past month. My sailor (my son) and I are from Florida and this is his 3rd deployment on the Oscar Austin. I got a quick message from him yesterday that all is well out there!

Hi everyone! I'm a little late in the game joining this group. I had completely forgotten about NavyforMoms after my sailor graduated boot camp. But now I'd like to connect with others who have sailors on the Oscar Austin. This is his first deployment and he is loving it! Anyone from Pennsylvania?
