For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

This was supposed to be easier than it has been, in my mind he has chosen a path and diving in but there is a small part of me that feels like it's missing. :-/

I had to be on Navy for Moms everyday at least a couple of times (if not more) because it was my lifeline to my Sailor daughter!! Between the Boot Camp Moms and my PIR group, they both kept me "afloat!!" Lemonelephant, diannep, FTLW, ellen0502, and Lala were all my lifesavers~~ :D

Lala Ribbon Queen, one of our N4Moms veterans, makes beautiful PIR ribbons. Find her under the MEMBERS tab up top.....go to her page on here, and look at her ribbons. You can friend request her from there. She also has her separate website listed there if you prefer to contact her that way.

My boyfriend actually recommended this site for me before he left because I felt like no one understood what I was going through but I'm so happy I can connect with others here and we can share tears and moments of joy together :)

I have definitely have found solace in this forum. I was surprised to have some of my friends say that I was being dramatic when my son left… it hurt. They couldn’t understand where I was coming from, I suppose. All of us moms, dads, wives and girlfriends here are going through the same things therefore we all can relate. My husband was telling me last night, " thank God you found this site, I was afraid that you would lose your mind if you hadn't", and I have to say, that I agree with him.. lol

We are all here for each other which is very comforting!

RTC has set up livestreaming of the PIR service for those who will not be able to attend the PIR service. This will start at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of PIR.
