N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!

Michelle:  The division number is the important part.  If that was correct, he should get the letters.  The mail is held from them for the first 2 weeks....

Also, calls can be totally random so keep your phone close at all times.

tooryeaye:  Was the letter you received the form letter?  If so, your first personal letter from your SR could be towards the end of next week.  Or possibly the following week.  They mail out on Mondays only.  Once they mail out the first time, they will receive mail M-F.

Got a call from my SR!  She sounded amazing! She said she was having a lot of fun and she is a Yo man (leader role).  I am so proud of her and miss her so, but I love hearing the excitement in her voice. The connection was really bad very fussy.  Took her several attempts of hanging up and calling back it kept cutting off...

Got a 36 min call from my recruit! Div 192 Ship 11! I'm so happy, he sounds well and says bootcamp has been easy for him! I'm so proud!

I just got a phone call ship 192, ugh it was rough so many emotions.

My question is that he said others received letters in his division but he has not. I have sent over 20 letters. Does anyone know how I can look into this. I feel terrible, he said mom did you write the right address. Please help anyone?

so many emotions here, ugh!

Ali, Navy Lodge is good (book in your SR's name if you don't have military ID).  Close to RTC.  Good prices, friendly staff....

Others to consider are:

Residence Inn, Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express...4-5 miles from RTC....near Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for families of sailors.  Nice area....large Walmart there....call these hotels directly (all are in Waukegan/Gurnee area) and ask for the NavyGrad discount.  We stayed at Residence and really liked it, CatMom stayed at Holiday Inn Express and said the same.  I believe that both ellen and FTLW stayed at Navy Lodge and had good experiences there as well.

For flights, everyone make sure to checkout Southwest Airlines since there is no change fee charged ever if your SR is delayed, and 2 bags check for free.  They fly into Milwaukee WI (45 min to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway.  There are running some one-way specials now so check them out!
