N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mom2SL, my daughter is in 928 and she really likes it. She played in high school and college and loved it. She wasn't sure if she wanted to make this commitment during bc, but she made the decision after she got there and is happy she did. We are flying this time, we're 14 hrs away and drove it in 2012 when my son went thru PIR. Glad your son is happy now with the switch.

Mom2SL , My son is on ship 02 as well.  I am very excited he is playing the trumpet again!  He was in marching band for 4 years.  He was awesome.  Marching band was the best thing for him as is joining the Navy!

Congrats, Mom2SL, on your son being in the 900 division now!  Glad he is happy!

My son was switched to ship 02 after they discovered he played the sax. He wasn't happy at first to leave he group he bonded with, but he's happy now! RDC's are great and the crew, too, he said. We are planning a 13 hr. drive to PIR. Not looking forward to that but very much excited to see him again!

NavyMomJune2015, You will get to see your Sailor for part of the day on Friday, then all day on Sat and Sun from approx 6am to 10pm (those times can and do vary). You will probably also have Monday with your Sailor. There perhaps may be some watch that your Sailor may have on one of those days.

My son called tonight and it was so great hearing his voice. I want to book my flight for PIR but the big question is (which my son didn't know) is how much time I will get to spend with him. Being that it's the start of memorial day weekend and he is going to "A" school and staying in Chicago I wanted to make sure that I will get to see him for more than one day.

DIV 185 is calling. It was so good to hear my SR's voice. He still has a cold but he's not complaining!!! I'm doing the happy mom dance.
