OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Wow, Michelle.  That is awful.  I hope that they are all found and get to him, and that you have sent tons more letters now that will get to your SR quickly!  I'm so glad you spoke to him so he knows now you wrote for sure.....

Good afternoon,
I am going to vent my anger now! It was tears earlier. Still upset! We all know how much our SR look forward to there mail for encouragement. When I spoke to my SR on Saturday he said no mail for him, but others did. Let's just say he was upset!
I had stated I sent 20 pieces of mail on the day the form letter came. None got to him and others in his ship and divison did. I had the right address. After days of digging, one piece will arrive to him tonight. The others went to another ship by mistake?? MIssing?? I am so so sad for my SR, thinking I have let him down.
No wonder he had been a little off, this stinks and I have to express my anger. Now where has all it gone? All my positive words, just lost? He needs those?! Ugh!
