Mary (Chris' Mom) - so nice to hear from you. God bless your son for his service on the GW and I wish him all the best at his new command. Take care Mary and may those fair winds follow you and yours.

CoCoBeans - that is so sad that your daughter had a bad experience. Please thank her for her service and I pray things are going well for her now. God bless her.

NavyMom - thank you for the OPSEC reminder! I think sometimes we get caught up in the excitement of what's going on in our kids lives and accidently say things we shouldn't. Thanks again for the reminder! Keep us on our toes!!

I so much enjoy reading all the posts on here. I sure hope this group stays active during this years deployment - it's such an exciting year!

Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Hey everyone! I am so glad to see activity on the board!!
I just thought I should remind everyone of OPSEC. We can't put dates on here. And our sons and daughters should not be giving dates over the phone, email or social media. That goes for us parents too.
I know it is frustrating not to know dates, my husband was in 25 yrs and now my son and I still get frustrated sometimes but We don't want them to get into trouble!!
I just want us all to be safe. Especially our loved ones on the GW

Greetings to everyone!

My daughter was on the GW and at the beginning of the year began her last year of service stationed here in the US..  I wish I could say that her time with the GW in Yokosuka, Japan was good but it was not. Sadly, at the end of her time there, she was very let down by her fellow sailor's. I won't go into details but I pray that all of those who serve are taken better care of by their fellow man and not left in dangerous situations.  She does miss Japan but not the ship.  To all of you I pray blessings, Godspeed and following seas.

I wanted to stop by and wish everyone here, their sailors and families all the best. My sailor has recently restationed and is working 3 years of shore duty. While he is still a very long way from home he technically is no longer overseas. From our house to yours...best of luck, Godspeed, Fair winds and following seas. Thanks for your 3 years of support.

My son is on the GW..talked to him this morning. They are preparing to get underway on or near May 9. He is looking forward to the deployment. This is his second cruise.

My son has yet to join the GW. He has orders to join the ship after "C" school. He was told that it will leave soon after for a 9 month deployment in the southern oceans. Then either to San Diego or VA.

I am so glad to finally see some comments here!  I don't think my daughter is coming to VA but I haven't heard for sure.  Often don't hear much from her either.

Katie GC see my comment below regarding homesickness.  It's as hard for them as it is for us.  However, they don't have any other "family".  That's why they get so close with their buddies.  Be patient and text, message and email as much as you can.

My son will also be transferring to the Raegan. Hope to see him this summer in San Diego. He's been aboard the G W since April 24,2014. Really looking forward to seeing him.
