N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The brochure you SR sent home with the form letter has several hotels that offer discounts for graduation. I booked mine this morning, and they were really nice.

I tried to book at the navy lodge for the dates of graduation on june 11-13 and they were already booked up I guess.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

Skittles209, The recruits cannot keep their cell phones, they must send them home.

If your son didn't take a calling card, do send him one. Try and find one with at least 300 minutes, and one that doesn't take a lot of minutes just to dial a number. Make sure if it needs activating that you do so before sending it, it will save precious time when making that first call home. Since you have already sent your phone number, you should be fine by the next time they can call. :)

Breathe deep...you will be fine and so will he. It will take you time to adjust just like it is for him. Time will pass quicker than you think!

My son is SR 14 DIV 210 date 6-12. My son sent his letter and box of clothes ( I can't bring myself to wash them) but he also sent his cell phone and charger back in the box. I thought he could keep it? Did anyone esle get their cell phones sent back? Do I need to send him a calling card since he has no money? He didn't memorize my phone number and told me before he left he had my number in his phone and didn't need to memorize it.
I haven't gotten a call other than when he first arrived. I mailed him a letter giving him the phone number and am praying he calls. Any suggestions to help ease my Anixtey would be great.
I miss he like Crazy, but at the same time I'm so proud him!
