Hello Sonya209 and everyone!

I don't post much but I do read your comments and love to see the sisterhood that has developed here.

My daughter graduated April 2014! One of the best days ever! She was also undesignated and got assigned to a ship in Norfolk. Did a lot of odd jobs, grunt work and started to hate everything! She knew that the rate that she wanted (corpsman) was a lost cause because of many reasons. So each  month when she got the list of jobs she qualified for, she kept striking for the one she wanted (Yeoman) and got it! She got to the ship in May 2014 and got her rate in February...so less than a year! She kept working hard and diligently and even though she had some tough days, she pushed thru it all. Her next homeport is in Spain!!! She is beyond excited about that.

Our girls are brave, strong, and courageous! As moms, we have taught them to NEVER GIVE UP, like Sonya said and I agree with her 1000%....our girls have what it takes to be successful Sailors too!

Sonya - keep encouraging your daughter and fill up her motivation tank with positivity and love! If our girls can make it thru boot camp they can make it thru anything :)

A hug to all you strong Navy Moms who raised strong Navy daughters!

Good morning all, Happy Tuesday!

Blondie, so sorry for all the deaths and illness of the ones you love. Saying the Serenity Prayer helps me with my worries. Do you know it?

Thank you all for the warm welcome! My daughter is stationed in Florida and after almost a year she still does not have a rate. She signed up for the Navy without one and thought she could job shadow certain ones, decide what she wants to do and then sign up for her rate. But it is not that easy. I guess when rates become available, they are assigned to ones with more seniority. So we are just waiting for that great day to come. Meanwhile, she is doing odd jobs around the ship...but she is just glad to be in the number. She had a rough time with boot camp passing the running part (she did very well with everything except that). She did not graduate with her class and was assigned to FIT but 2 weeks later she passed the run and became a SEAMAN...WHAT A GREAT DAY!!! That next weekend, we were in Illinois congratulating her and celebrating her perseverance and persistence. That was the main thing, SHE DID NOT GIVE UP!!!
So that's it in a nutshell, she is happy and so are we! I applaud all the young ladies who have elected to go this route. It's not an easy task, but with focus, dedication and the support of others, they can achieve success in the NAVY just like the young men!

Good Morning to Everyone.

Anna, I saw that too. I think they should move it to Monday. Boy did I have a Monday this week. Glad it is done with and we are on to the rest of the week. My computer at work even know it was Monday. LOL.

Catsmom,

Keeping Crystal in my prayers.  I'm sure this is taking awhile for her to get her head wrapped around this whole thing!!!  And to find out she is much farther along doesn't give her the whole 9 months to get ready!!!  I hope they let her get to Norfolk and that things settle down and work out for her!!!!

Jrzygurl,

How wonderful to get a phone call!!!  The last time my son's ship was in port he couldn't even skype with his wife and daughter and their internet was down the whole time.  Everyone was so frustrated and disappointed.  Those communications are so special and rare!!!!  Blessings to her!!!!

Vickyrun,

So glad you had a nice retreat!!!  Even tho you had rain!!!

Sonya,

So good to see you hear.  I know you've been a Navy Mom for awhile, and I see your son is going to Japan.  Some of our other moms have had sailors in Japan so maybe you all can share some insight!!!  What is your daughter's rating and what part of our world is she in????  Only share what you feel comfortable with.

I have had some really cool adventures lately but our internet is so limited that I can't share pictures just yet.  But we also got the wedding pictures from the photographer and I can't wait to share a couple special ones with you.  Tomorrow we head back to a bigger city so maybe we'll have some good wifi!!!!

Jean,

Saw this sign just this afternoon - - -  Why is Friday so close to Monday but Monday is so far from Friday???

Have a great week everyone!!!!

Good morning all. Welcome Sonya 209.Jean, my weekend was short, too. I had a great time on Retreat in the mountains. It rained Saturday, that was a blessing as we need the rain here.

Yay for phone calls, Jrzygurl.

I don't get many phone calls. Chrissy uses all her phone calls to call her son. Her new husband has posted several times on Facebook about how much he misses her. And they have only been gone a few days! I hope he can be faithful to her while she is on deployment.

Hello everyone!!  I am new to this group and to this website.  I have a daughter who is the Navy; she has been in for almost a year now.  She loves the Navy and I am so happy for her but I miss her sooooo much!!!!  She is my pal and best friend.  But I do realize that this is one of the best decisions she has made in her life!!!  Hoping that I could be a support to you all as I pray that you support me.

Good morning everyone,

Jean I ask that all the time LOL Seems like we just start the weekend and it is over.

Crystal seems to be doing better, she posted a picture of her pregnant self..LOL Please continue to pray for her. I think she is starting to get over the shock of being so far along. She told me I can't belive I passed my PIR test 3 weeks ago, LOL. She felt the baby move. So I think that is all making it sink in. Also told her that I have talked to some other women, that have had the same thing happen to them when they came off the DEPO shot.
