For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Says they are too busy to do pretty much anything.He does say he personally feels the RDCs are very patient. He did say their div did so well on their first inspection that they get an extra flag at PIR. WHOOT! He does love the letters. Says he is sorry he doesn't have more time to write.We are getting close to that 4 week call! We can do it!

i was also hoping mine would call so i could hear her voice. But no luck.. I thinking she had her teeth pulled and did not want to talk much. Time is flying by!! Im worried about her in a way but i went to Army bootcamp at her age and i do remember it been FUn after 2 or 3 weeks. I hope shes having the same experience.

I've seen ideas to do a letter that they can circle and fill in the blanks, I'll be doing that soon, it will help me to better communicate, see what he needs so when I do get to talk to him, it's not so much questions but I can let him talk more. Stay strong!

Comment by ellen0502 on April 28, 2015 at 1:56am: Momof9, He may feel frustrated for a while in BC, but it will work itself out pretty quickly, I promise.

He will have more time to write as the weeks go along, your first letter or two might be heartbreaking, but that is normal, and he will probably be fine two hours after he writes you.

You can't take away the homesickness, it just has to work itself out. My son said it was hard the first couple of weeks to hear his fellow recruits crying at night, but it passed after a couple weeks.

Try writing letters as though a pet wrote it, or his car, his favorite jacket, his bedroom etc.

Have fun with it! His bed could be sad it isn't warm every night, but grateful it doesn't have to deal with his smelly feet and bad breath in the morning anymore.

A dog can be angry because he doesn't get fed when he wants, and is sick of having to beg for a sibling to feed him, he misses him, and he likes having the bed to himself, but the bed is now mad at him because he is having to deal with fur and doggy breath.

Be creative in your writing it is unlimited in what you can come up with!
