When I tell people who haven't seen my daughter in a while, such as her former elementary school teachers, that she is heading to boot camp in July so many of them are surprised. More than one person has responded with "she was such a girlie girl...." Anyone else had that response?

Oleander,

You are going to love PIR!!!  So happy to know other family and loved ones will be there also!!  Definitely want to hear about your reunion!!!   Safe travels for everyone.

Jean,

Sounds like a long and confusing process but will still keep her in my prayers that she gets selected!!!!

Vickyrun,

So glad you had a wonderful meet and greet.  Wish it would have been planned for just a little later - I plan on being in Sacramento on the 8th!!!!!  Would you like to try to meet up for lunch???  We'll be there until the morning of the 11th.

Good morning all,

Congrats Oleander, Have fun in GL. Don't drive a rental car to PIR, take a shuttle van you will get on base quicker.

I had a nice weekend. I went to a Navy For Moms M&G in Sacramento. I finally found another Navy Mom in Sutter Creek to carpool with! I also sent off the first care package for Chrissy. She wanted dark chocolate, I hope it doesn't melt.

Good Morning to Everyone.

Anna, she is 77th on the list. They apparently rate the interview and testing and go by that. She got a 98 on the rating. So sometime hopefully in the next few months she will have a job. If not the testing and interview has to be done again next year. It sounds stupid to me. LOL. But that is the way they do it.

Blondie still praying for you and your family. That your daughter gets well and they find out what is going on.

Oleander, have fun at PIR, I did. It is nice to see the changes in our kids after BC. Now the fun really begins for you.

Everyone have a good Monday. Just think after today we only have a few more days until the weekend. It will be here again fast.

My trip to Centralia's was fantastic.Weather was great and had nice company.

Hi Anna and all - Thank you! Yes, we're definitely attending PIR! Our new Sailor will attend A School in GL so we have the whole weekend with her. Her boyfriend, a Marine, is coming with us from the west coast and my oldest daughter & husband will be flying in from NY. It's going to be an amazing weekend - rain or shine! We're all very excited.

I look forward to more contact with you all. I'll be sure to let you know about our reunion.

Best!

Good afternoon everyone!!!!  Lots of good news being shared.  That is so cool!!

Julyasmom,

One of my daughters is out now but I still have a son and a daughter serving.  Enjoy every moment you get to spend with your girl before she leaves.  My girl went into the dep program a year before she shipped but that time still flew by and the next thing I knew we were saying goodby at the airport.  It is a big change because your girl will never be the young child growing up at home again.  They mature so quickly after they go off - you will be amazed and so dog gone proud!!!!

Catsmom,

Love the pictures.  Thank Crystal for sharing with us!!!  I'm so excited for you and your family!!!  And a special congrats on the grandson!!!

MartiB_TX,

So happy to hea you're going to be visiting your girl soon!!! My daughter was also there in the Kitsap, Bremerton, Silverdale area.  Is this your first trip out there??  It is a beautiful place, that is for sure!!!! Lots to see and visit!!!

Sonya,

I will keep your girl in my prayers that she gets the LS rating she wants.  And also for a safe and quick deployment!!!  I love your quote about charging forgetfulness to the head and not the heart!!!!  I may have to borrow that from time to time!!!!

Vickyrun,

I live in my denim and had also read about that story somewhere else recently.  A very important message to share!!!  Thank you!!

Oleander,

So happy you got the "Sailor" call!!!  Will you be able to attend her PIR??  Now you have to keep us posted as to where she goes next and what's in her immediate future!!  Again, as much as you are comfortable sharing!!!

Jean,

Keeping your daughter in my prayers that she gets the electricians union job.  That would be so great to keep them there near you.  Not that I have anything against going in the Marines, but you know what I mean!!!!!

Blondie,

Glad your daughter made it safe on her trip.  Now to have some much needed R&R time!!!  And to get healthy again!!

Yesterday the hubby and I got to visit Crater Lake!!  We stayed until after 9:30pm hoping to catch some beautiful stars but there was a full moon so it never got very dark!!!  But boy was it cold up there once the sun went down.  Elevation 7000 feet!!  What a remarkably awesome sight!!!  That's one vision I don't think I'd ever forget!!!

Some good news to share about daughter Catherine.  She is just about finished with her last grueling semester where she has classes actually on campus.  She has just a few online courses to take this summer and just found out she was accepted for a paid internship with the Air Force.  She will be leaving for Andrews Air Force Base in DC from September to December,  and then graduates!!!  A four year degree in three years!!!  She has worked her butt off and I am so darn proud of her.  Will let you all know how she does!!!

That's all for now!!!  Hopefully we will have some good internet as we travel back down to CA.  I'll be sure to share a few of the wedding pics we finally got!!!!  Have a great week everyone!!!

Good Morning to Everyone.

Today is going to be in the 70's. WOW then the rain comes back. So I am going to enjoy the weather while we have it. Going out to meet a friend today I have to drive to Centralia to see him. That is about 1.5 hours away. Sort of excited to see him. Have seen each other for a long time. Hopefully there will be a park somewhere near there to enjoy the sun. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Thank you Catsmom and Jean - I think I took the 1st deep breath after that call since she left in March! I appreciate all of you who've gone before us - your wisdom, communication, and support have been greatly appreciated!

YAY Oleander! Nothing better than that phone call. Proud of our newest Sailor.

Blondie, happy your girl made it safe. Praying she continues to get better. Did they ever figure out what the problem is?
YAY for your sunshine, I think it is about time.

Jean have a good weekend, enjoy your sun too.

Have a good weekend everyone.
