Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

DepthCharge: I sure hope it all works out for her and she is happy about her Navy decision. So many factors involved! Hoping that she can get the hospital corpsman position she wants! Good Morning!

Judithmac, she wanted hospital corpsman and wanted to wait for bootcamp until summer to see if a medical seat would open up but the recruiters told her SPACT was a great option while she waited for an opening. I'm just hoping they are right that she will get a chance to strike for corpsman because what I'm reading greatly disheartens me. She was offered crypto and engineering, both of which sounded extremely boring to her

I am so sorry DepthCharge4. I have no idea how it all works but they didn't offer her anything else?

Having a hard day today. Reading the link on SPACT from the Navy For Dads site. Admin's discussions with a sailor in the SPACT program makes me want to cry. My bright 20 year old daughter was talked OUT of taking her last two courses to finish her AAS degree in favor of letting the Navy pay for those courses (Anatomy and Physiology 2, and Biology for medical students). She has worked her tail off to work as a paramedic and was a Phi Rheta Kappa honor student and scored 85 on her ASVAB. I am sick thinking she is taking a 6 year hiatus from her dreams of becoming a flight rescue medic.
