N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ellen0502 is it possible that he did not even join the Navy Credit Union then? I know he has a credit union here. The statement did not show any money in the account.

Sharonclips, Be prepared...The Credit Union sends loooooootsssss of stuff. LOL

Warning!!!!! Incoming Sailor Speak!!

The first time my son was able to come home after BC (8 months), I gave him all the CU mail that had arrived. He looked at the overflowing letter sized storage box and said, "What The F"! We both laughed.

I then asked if I could open everything that arrived, and dispose of it if possible. He said "If you don't there would be enough to wallpaper the whole GD*** ship and probably the whole F* Gator Navy. He gladly accepted my disposal proposal.  Hahahaha!

Ellen0502 you are right it is just a statement.

Buzzbeck, Nobody gets "extra" liberty after PIR. Those leaving GL for A School generally leave sometime on Sat and those staying in GL for A School have liberty Fri, Sat and Sun, but have to be back on base each night (no overnights).

Sharonclips, Chances are the mail from the Credit Union is just a statement, it is probably nothing your recruit needs. If it feels as though it might be a debit card, you might want to open it and see. Those are usually given to them while in BC, unless something was misunderstood. If that is what it is, your recruit might want it.

You will get a lot of mail from the Credit Union, most of which it is probably not necessary to forward on.

Just got our first call today! JOY! Question: if someone in a push DIV by chance gets extra liberty after PIR, would that be before or after leaving for A School?

OMG...my son called me just few minutes ago, I am still in tears (of happiness)...he is doing good. I have been babysitting my cell...I went to the room to get something quick, and when I came back to dinning where I left cell phone had a missed called from IL. I started crying and just hoping/praying that he called back and he did. He said he got all my letters. This is second call. I asked if he had friends in his Division 199 and he said yes, that he pretty much got to know them but he knows last names so I cannot post here. He asked me for more pictures lol. It's just priceless to have been able to talk to him and I was able to say Happy Birthday since his birthday is tomorrow~! I'm happy, happy :) Blessings to all our SR's and to you Moms & Dads~
