Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi Georgia Girl --my son is also 12/208 -- truly hoping for a call here too! (My son said he made a friend from GA--wonder if they know each other now!). Sorry you missed the call today -fingers crossed for a do-over!!!

Georgia Girl:  When a call is missed, there is no telling when they can call back, but keep the phone close because it could happen at any time!

12/208 SR called today, but I was away from the phone only once. He called during that time. Arghhhh!!! Will he be given another opportunity? This is really frustrating.

I have to correct myself when I say "allow"  I tend to forget he's an adult now. :)

I don't know if this applies to any of your SRs with girlfriends/boyfriends but we didn't expect a call from ours for this reason.

We told him that we wanted the first call and the "I'm a Sailor call."  We allowed him to call his girlfriend for the free call in the middle. If he gets an extra call and contacts us, that will be a bonus. :)

Now back to listening to my husband play EVERY Navy boot camp video ever made that was posted to YouTube. :)

No call yet from 12/208. I gave up after about 7pm last night. I had to go to bed so I would stop looking at my phone and for my husband to stop asking me what was wrong. LOL!!! Well, at least I got plenty of sleep. Hope everyone has a great day and hears from their SR soon whether by phone or letter.
