Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ConnorsMom...we got our letter close to two weeks after the box. I had our daughter looking for it everyday twice a day. We travel for our work. It was crazy! I cried as well when we got it. Our son is on ship 13 division 214. I literally had to call the Recruiter for his address. I was so upset thinking of him not having
Mail at mail call. I'm a baby anyways. We're in this together. I repeat that a lot because it's true. God Bless our SR's. I love my son.

Yes NBSMom89, that helps a bunch.  I have been waiting at the mail box like a kid, waiting for his letter.  Made me way more emotional than I expected.

I got it!!!!!!!!!!!  The Form Letter cam today!!  He is Ship 04 DIV 217 PIR 6/19.  I really wasn't prepared for how emotional this would be for me.  I am generally not overly emotional but I sure did cry tears of joy!  :)

Hi Connorsmom...Welcome. They're Ribbons to show support and they have your child's name and division on them. Very cool.
uniquememorymakers.com has them. But lala ribbon queen can get them as well. I'm going to order a few to include proud mom and dad. I'm new at this too. I hope I've helped you.

I got my letter today, ship 4 division 217, what are the ribbons being discussed?  I'm a navy newbie.

Comment by diannep on May 5, 2015 at 1:25pm

NBSmom:  If you order them from Lala Ribbon Queen (find her under the MEMBERS tab up top). she gets them to you very quickly.  Go to her page and you will find info there!

Ladies:  I want to remind you not to wait on booking hotels....because...there is a Six Flags nearby that fills up many of the hotels....even Navy Lodge with some military families using the summer to visit their sailors there.  Sooo.....go ahead and book....usually there is no penalty if you have to cancel....either day before or day of arrival.

Hi everyone...hope the day's going great for you.
My son is ship 13 and division 214. I'm getting ready to order ribbons. Does anyone know
How long it takes to receive them? This is great
To have this specific for our PIR
Date.

Cassababy:  Phone on vibrate in the bra as you mow might get your attention if it rings....just hope you don't jump so violently that it falls out!  :-)
