Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

DepthCharge4- I understand. Last summer after my son went to MEPS I searched online and couldn't eat for days because I was so worried. Then I found another group with a couple of angry people and that made it worse! I finally found some people with "positive" experiences and realized that there are lots of good experiences out there. My son is doing great in San Diego! He will deploy soon. The friends I've made in this group have been lifesavers!!! (Love the picture Splash- beautiful girls)! Everyone have a great day!!!

splash, I noticed you were from MN and that made me really glad to know another mom with a kid from Midwest! Michael's Mom, and Mommamac, thank you SO much for helping me get calm about this- I have been super positive and motivating for my daughter and she knows nothing of my panic last weekend, thankfully! She knows what she wants and is willing to work hard to get it and possibly wait for it! Also glad to know I'm not the only one to panic! Lol

Welcome DepthCharge4, this site was a God send for me too. I too read all the negative post on line and nearly had a panic attack. It really helps so much to hear other moms perspective. Also to stay positive for our SR. My son PIR's 5/29/15.

Valtameri...They do have fun! They have barbecues on the beach all the time. And they shop! She really has not complained about PACT.

MIchael's Mom. Thank you...she is a really good kid. She was the easiest of my 4. She was sassy and that is about it. Her twin brother just about did me in. Maybe she felt bad and did not want to add to my stress.

If you really want to come to the Mall you are welcome to stay with me...really!  It is huge! I do not think you could see it all in one day. I do not go often but if you need something that is the place to find it. The people watching is good too!

With your husband being a recruiter I would trust that he would not have let Michael join as PACT if he thought it was a bad thing. Can I ask why Michael chose the Navy over Air Force?

They sure look like they are hating PACT. ;)

What wonderful smiles.

DepthCharge4...I just realized that you are in Iowa. I live in Apple Valley MN about 7 miles south of the Mall of America. We are only about 240 miles from each other. I have not met many Mom's from the North Country!

DepthCharge4. Shortly before my daughter graduated from boot camp I was also hearing negativity about the PACT program and also panicked. I was very worried and was literally sick to my stomach!  But really so far SPACT has been pretty good. I think there are pros and cons like anything else. One of the good things is that they get to learn about jobs before they commit to one. My daughter originally wanted to join as a Gunners Mate and she would have been stuck with that job for at lest 2 years. She has learned so much since boot camp and said she would have hated that job. She has changed her mind several times already about what she wants to do. I now think PACT is a good thing. She is now on the Amphibious base Coronado CA. This is where the Seals train. She is assigned to a Marine Expeditionary Unit and works with the Sea Bees. I hope that helps.
