Hi splah & Nori! Thanks so much for responding. Yes - she'll be on the USS Pearl Harbor which started it's mid-life overhaul in April 2014. I'm not sure how long that takes and her ship's site has no activity. I sent a request last week with no response so very happy to meet you both!
Hi Oleander, Do you know which base your daughter is assigned to? My daughter is on the Amphibious base Coronado. She has been there since Jan and loves it. She has made a lot of friends and has a lot of fun. She was a little home sick for a while but after a couple months was ok.
Hi everyone, I'm new to the group. My Sailor daughter has received her orders and will be in San Diego early August. Luckily we live just a few hours away but would love to connect here and learn more about what she'll experience in San Diego.
Angie,
They have much more freedom now in A School. My son has been in San Diego for 2 1/2 years and I only hear from him once a week. I read about mom's who hear from their sailors more often. I think it depends on the kid. I know he is working long hours, but then again I know he is on his phone or computer playing games, too. LOL Why they can't take a few minutes to text you back when they know it is important to you. I am going to San Diego next week to send him off. I can't wait to see his ship and where he works.
@pandabugz we got a house on afton sreet? like right across from the nex it shows on google maps. I am nervous not knowing what the house looks like and everything before we move but my wife is deployed so everything has been kind of crazy! I have one year old, so I want to make sure its going to be safe for just me and her for awhile! Are the 2 bedrooms nice inside? and can you give me the link to the FB page?
