N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep, thanks i'll check it out when PIR gets closer. No handwritten letters yet. I don't even think they have gotten mail call yet, I think that is next Sunday.

Hi everyone. Has anyone gotten a handwritten letter from Ship 3 Div 216 yet? I got the graduation letter and am just curious if hand written letters have been received by loved ones yet.

Thanks

Hootsmom:  Some are able to get into the Chapel on base for the Livestream.  They won't be allowed in PIR Hall to watch the ceremony, but can watch it in there together.  This is not a total guarantee, since there have been some PIR groups that were told they were reserving the Chapel for PIR Hall overflow, but as long as this PIR group is not too large, it probably won't be an issue.  Someone in another group just called the PAO yesterday to ask about this.

Can anyone with experience tell me, we have other family coming to PIR, but only 4 can attend. I know that the PIR is streamed live, will there be a place where others in similar situations be - so that they perhaps can watch the event together?

Also if you have a large family who are all sending letters, YEAH!!! but writing the same thing to everyone can be tedious. I suggested to my SR that he write me a "newsletter/Update" letter I can share with everyone, then he can focus his correspondence with everyone else around more personal things. Mine will be off to A school in TX, so love to hear from anyone with family on that track too...

Too funny, Cassababy....Sadly, I have plenty of room when in need of putting it there (not often!)....but if I lean over....all bets are off....CLUNK!  :-)

Hi all, just checking in Ship 4 Div 217, I just got my letter yesterday. I haven't gotten a "Dear Mom & Dad" letter since elementary school!!  I too am staying at Navy Lodge, made reservations several days ago VERY best deal. I will be driving from Western MA, would love to caravan with others. I look forward to getting together with everyone. A WORD ABOUT PHONE CARDS, I looked all over and found them at Walmart for 25.00 for 500 minutes. If you hesitate to buy that many minutes, please do anyway. Your recruit can share with someone who might not have a card. I know I have posted before but as this is getting so big I will just put this out there again. Ask your SR about mailing an extra letter with a special mark on it, for a SR that might not get mail. He/She will know not to open it and pass it along. Imagine not getting mail. They must show all pictures to their Commanding Officer, I believe. I took to typing my letters on the computer so I can imbed a photo on the paper.
