pat:  What trips up some of the SRs in the end is that final PFA (fitness test) and that can sometimes cause them to miss their PIR.  However, they are allowed to stay on and continue trying to pass---they would not have another PIR, would eventually pass (hopefully), do BattleStations and head to A School.  There is a small percentage of SRs in each division that this affects.  Although some may be tripped up by academic failure, I have not heard of that as often. The run in thel PFA is hard for some---that are the swim (down just once) can be a challenge for some.  They take the PFA 3 times during Bootcamp....but they MUST pass the final one no matter what they did on the first two.  They cannot do BattleStations until they pass this.

Try not to worry....they really do work hard with the SRs to get them to graduation!

And, no, your post just shows up here, not in an email.  To email someone, you have to friend request that person (or accept a friend request from them) and then you email through your Inbox.

Zetamom I read you! :-)

Zetamom:  Love the prayer you posted.  Thank you so much. will say it now everyday and keep in mind all the SRs.  I was so upset that I missed my son's call this weekend as I am sure he was disappointed and wanted to hear our voice and words of encouragement.  Maybe they will be allowed to try again today?

I hate to be negative but are there many recruits that are not able to attend PIR due to academics, physical fitness etc?  Anyone know from all the past BCs before us?

Also not sure if my postings are being seen.   Could someone be kind enough to confirm that they have seen this post.  Should my post show up on my e-mail as well?

Thank you so much.  Look forward to 7/10 and as we honor Memorial Day.  Have a wonderful day Moms!

Just posted on the main page, but we just received another call from our son! He sounds good. We were with other family and put it on speaker phone. Life is good!

My son didn't have to get the peanut butter shot. After looking it up is is a thick liquid with penicillin. My only guess is that he didn't have to get it because he is allergic to penicillin. He did say he is in erythromycin which all now makes sense--must be in place of that.

Our call yesterday was also 20 minutes. He mentioned the painful shot too. Called it the "peanut butter shot." Anybody know what that is?

Mammabird: my son is on the same! We had the exact same conversation pretty much. I was trying my hardest not to sound sad because he sounded sad he was sick and got all the shots spoke about the one in the backside also. We talked for 20 minutes I kept telling him is he sure he won't get in trouble because it seemed most have said calls only lasted a few minutes.
