Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Hey, moms! Did any of you find it helpful to join groups that your Pact sailor is working with? Splash, did you join a Seabee moms group and find it helpful? Kate sent me the link to the Naval Amphibious base but I don't find much information there.

DepthCharge4. My daughter siad the works with the Sea Bees all the time. The snot said DUH mom...I am assigned to the SeaBees. lol!  The airmen are on Coronado North Island and the Amphib base is south of North Island. The SEALS train on the Amphib base and she said they can see them training but have no contact with them. Her words...they do some crazy stuff...and they run everywhere! As for being assigned to a ship, I guess you can volunteer but otherwise this group is not on a ship.

Ha ha! I should've looked up Camp Pendleton before posting- no flying necessary ;)
Comment by DepthCharge4 on May 20, 2015 at 9:07am
Do they fly or go by ship? Daughter said she was "boots on the ground" so she wasn't expecting to be on a ship at all. Obviously, Camp Pendleton would be flying, but if another overseas assignment were planned?

They were going to go to Korea next month and that was cancelled.  She was just told they have another special training at Camp Pendelton in September.

Michael's mom, I did! I wasn't prepared to be sad on Saturday, though. She slept in the hotel room for 3 hours in her civvies, curled up under the covers and I kept thinking of all the time being eaten away from our time together. She had no interest in sight seeing as her feet hurt in the dress shoes, and she had corns and blisters from all the marching. So we did a quiet day Saturday and Sunday. She took us to chapel on RTC to the Gospel service. It was really uplifting!

Just left my new sailor at A school in Great Lakes. One of her roommates is leaving soon and is also SPact; she left all her study notes for the course because she said they don't give you time to study them. That was super nice of her! I have a question for you, Splash, how closely will Seabees work with special ops and airmen on Coronado? I figured there would not be much interaction, but my daughter gave me the impression that it is more than just being on the same base together.
