N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I should correct myself:  The push divisions will have a couple to a few days less than the 6 training weeks.

Great, subhunter!

Hootsdmom:  The "push" divisions are the last to fill up....so they have a few days less to get it all done.  Don't think it is actually as much as 2 more weeks of training, but it is a few days more, for sure.  They get it done!  They will graduate on time...no problems.  They always do (division-wise...SRs individually can be setback for one thing or another).  And, yes, ellen will tell you (had a push division son) that you can't go by the training schedules here when a push division.  They have their own schedule!   There are actually 6 training weeks for all of the SRs....but around 8 Bootcamp weeks.

Also I checked out the RTC FB page, they have a Mothers Day photo album with 365 photos, they updated it again with some additional photos. Couldn't see my SR from 217, but you might get lucky.

Good Morning, got another call a few days ago, I feel very blessed with so many phone calls. Trying to catch up on posts, GF - Navy Pier is awesome as is the Shedd Aquarium, shopping on MIchigan Ave YES!!!. Transportation in Chicago is easy. The orange line goes right to the airport from downtown. MY SR said that in 217 there is a contest to memorize 4 pages of firearms material the first 10 get a 1 hour phone call. They must recite it verbatum. As of our short call with him, two have already won the golden hour (looks like his girlfriend will be very happy). So hopefully there will be many happy families. I couldn't figure out why he kept saying he was at a certain point in his training when every post I found said differently, he explained that 217 is a "push" division - 6 weeks not 8? So if someone could explain that further it would be great. (I might have posted this before  but can't find it). 3 weeks!!!!

memeGaronsmom:  I checked OldSarge's page on here to see if he had piks of the baskets but didn't see any.  Lots of other piks there of the MeetandGreets though (find him under the Members tab up top....Old Sarge).  Like CatMom said, the baskets are totally up to you if you want to do one and what you want to put in them....no one should feel pressure to do this.  Some can donate cash when there toward's Sarge's expenses, if they want.  Not required by any means!  He puts this on for you all for free....it is a very good thing!  There is a Walmart very close to his MeetandGreet if some what to make a basket, but don't want to transport the items from home.

memeGaronsMom,

Just one of those baskets with lots of different items in it or maybe even a giftbag with many items in it.  State themed ones are popular.

BaileysMom: Here is what "Michelle" wrote on the 5/22 group in answer to CatMom's question about Sarge's MeetandGreet:

CatMom and all mothers soon to attend their new sailor's PIR,
Sarge's meet and greet is not to be missed if at all possible. We got there pretty much on time and there were little "corrals" set up for each division, so he arranges it so you will be sitting with all the parents from your sailor's division and get to meet those faceless people you have been communicating with for weeks! It was fabulous!
One very crafty and talented mom made a beautiful centerpiece, and as it turned out, she was the only one who had made one. This would be a good piece of information for mom's considering to make one to share with other moms. One is good, and maybe two would be ok, but no need for ten! It was great to have the centerpiece because it helps latecomers to identify where they should sit. It was wonderful to meet all the great parents of some of the finest young men and women...they were all so nice! Hope we can stay in touch now! It is also great to go because now you have a bunch of people you are sitting with that you can chat with while waiting in the bleachers for everything to start. Plus Sarge has a wealth of information to share, and the food is good!
It was kind of dark in there and yes, the tables were kind of high with tall chairs, they weren't narrow to my recollection. There was also a high shelf around the tables that people could stand at while they are and chatted.
Please come ready to either contribute a basket, buy raffle tickets, make an offering, or buy drinks to help support what Sarge is doing for everyone. They sell tshirts and other memorabilia there as well. Hope this helps.

Remembering our many service men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, protecting its freedom.  We so appreciate each and every one of them.
