Welcome NukeMomCarol!  Like NancyJo said, you've come to the right place!  Most of us have enlisted sailors here but I think there might a few officers....one way or another we'll help you get answers!

NancyJo - Sounds like your son is getting to see some awesome places!  I hope he's taking lots of pictures to share ;-)

The "Be Safe, Love Mom" is a really good read.  In my Emptynesters group we are reading it & then passing it on to others in the group.....kind of a fun idea.  Maybe it could be done here too.....

Hello all, New Mom here. My Daughter is NUPOC

Good reminder, B'sNuke. I lot of people seem to blow off Memorial Day. Had lunch on Saturday w/ NE Navy Moms and one of them brought her Navy Viet Nam vet husband along. He was spit on when he wore his uniform in San Francisco back in the day. I'm glad that is not the norm today. God bless all those who serve their country. Rest in peace to those who "gave the last full measure of devotion."

Navy News has an article about the CVN70 on its way home, stopped at Phuket, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia after leaving Perth, Australia. Our sailors do see the world! They will soon be home, Praise God!

The coins that I got at proto grad were on a table when you walked inside the Milton Community Center where the grad was held.  They had some t-shirts, water bottles & coins.  I was so excited to find them.  You could try emailing Martin Kidder marty@kccoin.com.  One of my coins was broke & I emailed them & they are going to replace it for me.  Maybe they have more that you could buy.

I didn't read the article you posted J's/S'smom but I am going to.  I agree with you though, Memorial Day is a somber day.  Thinking of all those that lost their lives & the families they left behind - especially now that I am a military mom it just brings it home more.  I am almost done reading "Be Safe, Love Mom" & it really gets you to thinking about what our military men & women go through and what it means to their families.   We went out to the National cemetery by us & it's amazing to see all the flags.  Every gravesite has a flag....

I got a couple of emails from my son who is on his underway.  That was exciting!!  He also texted a few pictures.  Made me feel good ;-)  I'm just happy he finally got his email set up - was wondering if he was ever going to get that done! lol

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!  We just hit 2700 members!  WooHoo - MN Mom of MM - who's the lucky winner?

Comment by MN Mom of MM on May 24, 2015 at 1:28pm

Britefuture, Ours was at the Knights of Columbus in Saratoga Springs, and I didn't see any table there.  I did see some IKE coins on line when my sailor was deployed .  I had purchased one from Northwest territory mint and had it engraved when he graduated from power school.

On another note, Happy Memorial Day to all, and I'm just so thankful for all our military men and women past and present who serve our great United States.  Thank You for protecting our freedom.

That's funny MN Mom, I was thinking the same thing. I was just at my sons grad. in BS a few months back. The had a table set up with all sorts of collectible stuff but there weren't any coins. That's what I wanted! Erg.

B's. I am curious where you found coins at the prototype graduation.  I was at our sailors grad in NY  back in 12/12 and never saw a place to buy coins.
