It's HUMP DAY! B I expect a camel of some sort or at least an adorable picture. no pressure! lol

A big thank you to those that responded to what does my sailor need to do before reporting to ship. He is so chill, and laid back. I fire a bunch of questions at him, what do you need to wear, do you know where to go, what time to report. I dunno know they will tell me. Thank goodness I have you all. I'm sure the Navy is a fashionista and now that it is after Memorial Day he will report in whites? Can he just leave his blues and winter gear here to save space. He is less than 2 hours away so will be coming home many times before they switch back to blues. Wasn't sure if he needed the blues for any inspections once they are in whites. He just finally cleaned out his car after being home a month!!! Hasn't shaved, no hair cut, but I'm assuming this is normal.:] He's got a baby face so no full on beard. lol His older sister was like you need to shave!!! He said NO I don't.

To the winners of snowflake congratulations and a big thank you MNmomofMM for guessing game and for making cute sun catchers

Cotwin- congratulations on job offers! Was your son set to deploy soon? or maybe just on watch, sleep, watch cycle. Hope you get some sort of confirmation for you peace of mind.

Hope no one is from Texas and in harms way on here. Wow that's a lot or rain and more coming. yikes, Stay safe everyone. Happy hump day.

Hey ladies, I see we hit 2700 members?  Yesterday I saw 2699.  I will call this a win for (2) the mom picking the 25th and the mom picking the 26th.  Besties4dogs and RhondaK Send your address to my email with your choice of sun catcher    mnsnoflakes@gmail.com   Ill try to post pics of the 2 choices.

1proudmama, all he needs to do is report as shown on orders. Once there the process takes maybe half hour. If he goes in on a Sunday like my son the process is over in 15. My son was in doubt about which uniform to wear so he showed up in his dress blues which was the perfect choice. He will get a room assigned and issued a parking sticker.
This month went by soo fast. I'm glad he's so close to home. This is my son's last week in INDOC. Next week is work, shifts and qualification all over again. :)

It took my son a few emails to his sponsor while he was home on leave before he finally got a response (carrier).  I do know that some of things his sponsor was going to take care of for him didn't happen - but he was told where to report, when to report and what to wear!  It all worked out.  Can't believe you are already down to one week of leave left - boy the time sure goes by fast!  Enjoy it ;-)

Comment by William in Nashua on May 26, 2015 at 5:06pm

The new command knows he is coming, all you son has to do is report as shown in his orders.  In the submarine force new crew members who are not qualified are assigned a sea dad to help them get acclimated.  I do not know if they do anything like that for aircraft carriers.

Haven't been on lately, skimming thru all the comments. I only have one more week with my boy before he reports to ship. It has gone by way to fast, glad he is going to be relatively close by. He hasn't heard from anyone from Navy is this normal? Are they suppose to contact him or the other way around. I'm like son you better skim over your orders and see what you have to do. Glad to see we hit the 2700 mark, and that some ships are heading home. Hope you all get to see your sailors soon. Boywondersmom Im glad your son is starting to settle in, and is over the shock. I shared all your sons comments with my son and he said guess I'll be coming home every chance I can get.

Welcome NukeMomCarol!  Like NancyJo said, you've come to the right place!  Most of us have enlisted sailors here but I think there might a few officers....one way or another we'll help you get answers!

NancyJo - Sounds like your son is getting to see some awesome places!  I hope he's taking lots of pictures to share ;-)

The "Be Safe, Love Mom" is a really good read.  In my Emptynesters group we are reading it & then passing it on to others in the group.....kind of a fun idea.  Maybe it could be done here too.....
