For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

B'sNukeMoM, when I went to a local Blue Star Mothers meeting the Navy mom's were telling me that they have an instant travel pack they carry "just in case". I don't recall what all was in it but it included a passport and cash.

I'm not sure what steps you would take - I only know about the info I posted for the Emergency Red Cross but have never had to use it. You might could try the ombudsman - hopefully someone else on here can give some info on the best way to handle this. Keep us posted - hugs to you.

We had a sudden death in our family and I'm not sure how I can handle it. I read the Red Cross info.. It was my Aunt who passed. She was very close to my kids but I understand that they, RedCross, wont do any notifications. I've been trying to reach my son but he hasn't responded back yet. I'm just scared that he'll see it on Facebook first. That will devastate him. Will the ships ombudsman help?

My son (carrier) got his passport just to be safe. It was recommended by his command. I think it's a good idea for all of them to have one. (Guess I should get one too, never know when I might want to leave the country on a moments notice!).

Sorry to hear he got a sunburn - that's no fun! Aloe & ibuprofen will help ;-)

Comment by CountryGirl on May 27, 2015 at 11:54pm: CO-Twin I have been told that a lot of sub guys are having to get passports in case they have to get off with an emergency. I think each command may decide but I don't know 100%. I was getting packages for a sub guy and he told me his commander made them all get one.

So sorry about your nephew! Last year when Robin Williams died, a woman in my area who had a parent, uncle and 2 children die said that we should call it 'death by suicide' rather than 'committed' suicide. At any rate, I like the way you wrote it and I'm so sorry that your family lost him.
