Just dropped off 3 boxes at the post office!  I will have one more to send on Thursday; it will have the pillowcases in it and some other items that a co-worker is bringing in, including a bunch of hand written thank you cards.  :)

THANK YOU!

I have one box going out Thursday with some food items, shower scrubbees, a couple Sudoku books, and a few dental items.

Thank you!

It's been awhile since I used the USPS website to ship a military package. Is there a new trick? It's telling me I'm not using a name and company name in the delivery address even though I have used the provided information.

Oh Lorraine, Click 'n Ship is a hot mess! My best advice is to exit out of the USPS site and start over. Can't guarantee that will work.

I figured it out by looking for a tutorial (of sorts). It wouldn't let me use MSGT in front of his first name and it also didn't allow the comma between the unit and box number. Go figure! I can't believe they haven't improved this (I've been retired from USPS for 3 years). I think I'll be contacting someone in hopes of getting an improvement. I'm all set to ship Thursday!

I used MSGT as the first name and his first and last as the last name and it finally went through.

When you speak to the USPS, please ask them to fix the zip code as well. It won't print the 4 digit at the end so I have to write that in after I print my postage.

Kim, thanks for bringing up the 4 digits. They insist on it then the program won't even let it print! I'll get on it. I'm going to make sure the postmaster general knows too. I've met her :-)

And yes, apparently you can only put one word in the first name slot so your solution worked too. Here's the link that helped me. When you scroll down it gives examples of addresses for APO, FPO, and DPO.

Thanks for the info!

Lorraine, If you put the address in your address book, it works fine. When I print postage, I do a bunch, so I always use the address book.

The military has told the sailors/soldiers that they no longer need the +4 zip code. The regional post office here in Chicago REQUIRES it. When asking the troops for their address, I always have to explain that the military and the USPS are not on the same page!

The last time the USPS "improved" Click 'n Ship, there were major problems. I went over to the aforementioned Regional PO. They didn't have any answers but gave me a phone number to call. On the 2nd day of trying, she finally answered. Her first comment was "I don't know much about Click 'n Ship." (Uh-Oh) The next day we were supposed to have a 3-way call with IT Dept. IT Dept. would not answer her call! Unbelievable!
