Birdiejr, Huggs.  I'm sure the Arlington ceremony will be a comfort to the family.  I went to one a year ago.

Maggs....ouch!  You have moved on from broken toes.  Don't expect me to follow you.  Prayers for your family.

Walking by my neighbor and fellow NavyMom saw this addition to her front garden. Made me smile.

 Birdiejr and Maggs so sorry to hear about what is happening in your lives right now.

Blondie Congrats. Love the Direction sign.  Hopefully you can get some R&R before the next project comes your way.

Hi everyone. Am behind on msgs but love the pics. Hope everyone is well.

We have had quite a time of it. As I mentioned my nephew passed. He was army and it took awhile to get processed for the funeral so we just had the funeral (burial will be in Arlington). After the funeral, one of his uncles, my husband's brother, had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the ER. Thankfully, minimal damage and he is okay. We returned the next morning for Spec Forces services on base. WOW!! Ripped me outta the frame (again).

I get home and decide to rest when a childhood bestie calls to say they have discovered a tumor on his cerebellum. It is inoperable and he only has weeks. He has been fighting lymphoma for over a year now.

I am drained and devastated. But.......

My husband talked to our sailor and his command is comforting about allowing him to come for the Arlington ceremony in August. Will be the first time we have seen him in over two years. Fingers crossed that he would take some extra leave at that time too. Hubby said he sounded good and talked for quite a bit. Did my heart good.

My love to each of you. You and your sailors are in my prayers.

TerriNavyMom- my sailor had the same issue with his sponsor and that his ship was out when he arrived. Tell her to take deep breath, lots of them.  The bureaucracy & double speak = military service, but she should make it through. Agree with the ladies there are sessions specifically to acclimate newbies to Japan. If you haven't been told yet US cell phones don't work over there. She'll have to buy one over there. She may also want to get an international calling card.  Wish her luck

She will be in a holding unit until she flies out, so she will have work to do and duty days.  Overall, it should be simple.  She can call you when she has free time, someone there will help her figure out what phone to get, and how to find free texting apps.  Do you have skype?

The ~13 hour time difference is the killer!

Lets see on Memorial Day I sent my youngest daughter off to Japan to serve in the United States Navy.  She was supposed to have a sponsor but no one ever returned her emailed request so she flew in "blind" not really knowing what to do, where to go.   That was a long couple of days waiting to hear if / when she made it safe and sound to the Navy Base.   Now we wait for a bit and she will be flying off to meet up with the GW ship and travel back to USA and hopefully end up on the GW in Norfolk VA sometime in November, 2015.   So I am very new to this as my daughter just had finished A School and this is her very first Navy assignment to Japan.

What do I need to know while she is there???  She is going into Tokyo tomorrow on a sightseeing mission I think...

How often can she call me ??  Is she on Hold now until she leaves ??

Good morning all;

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.  On Memorial Day, I was with my local Blue Star group.  We helped raise over 1400 US flags, donated by families of the veterans interned in the cemetery.  I will try to attach a picture.  It was a beautiful day to honor our veterans.

PS"  I'm the one with the gray hair and shirt.
